I'm finally getting to replacing my ISP-provided Huawei router for, well, something - anything - else. When sifting through options available locally I've noticed Fritzbox 4060, which is not a name ice heard ever before. I didn't find much info about neither the company nor the product (except for marketing info and basic technical specs, which look fine for me). I guess I could've looked up some German sites (and believe the automated translations, cause my German is almost nonexistent) but I'm honestly interested in opinions of the people in this community.

So, what's up with AVM?

I saw the discussion the other day about the "Buy European" website having Google analytics, so it reminded me of this. Plausible uses no cookies (therefore no cookie prompt) and can be entirely self-hosted for free if you don't want to use their paid SaaS (supposedly EU hosted, but I haven't tried).

I get that a lot of people on the Fediverse are anti-analytics, but if you're running a website for a business, no matter how big or small, you likely need some form of analytics and I think it's nicer if you can avoid the (admittedly powerful) Google suite for this.

Oh and it's FOSS too. It uses AGPL, so you may want to read up on whether or not that "infects" your own code with AGPL.

I absolutely love this classic durable and reliable watch. I've had it for over 10 years and still running and in nice condition.

Any similar European alternatives you know of and can possibly recommend? As far as I know CASIO itself is Japanese, but I was kinda curious if I could support "local" and get an European one.

Anyone else struggling to avoid Amazon because of the price of some things? I need 3M Tegaderm for example and on Amazon it cost 28€ for 10cm by 10m roll and on other sites that are not Amazon I can only find it for pretty much double the price (shop-apotheke.com has it for 58,40€ https://www.shop-apotheke.com/arzneimittel/3816512/3m-tegaderm-roll-10-cm-x-10-m.htm and medizinbedarf.eu has it for 49,60€ https://www.medizinbedarf.eu/3M-Tegaderm-Roll-Transparentverband-unsteril-10-cm-x-10-m). Stuff like this really makes it difficult.

Anyone know where I can find this as cheap as on Amazon or at least not much more expensive?

I want to replace Atlassian's Trello, I am therefore looking for a todo list or simple project planning tool:

• Supports simple Kanban boards
• Lists or boards can be shared with friends and family
• App for Android and Desktop
• Servers and company located in Europe

Any recommendations?

A few days ago someone on the reddit sub posted a link to literal.club - however, I can't for the life of me get my goodreads shelves into it - I tried many times. In a last ditch effort, I created an account on thestorygraph.com to see if I could transform my goodreads CSV-export to a format that literal.club would read.

I did, but the import seems to have failed.

This led me to investigate thestorygraph.com and found out that it was created by a sole developer-girl based in London to be a "free" goodreads-alternative.

It has a paid tier (40€/year) but not sure what it ads.

I then added a few books on literal.club to see how that worked, and I must say that I like the info on thestorygraph.com better.

We worked the last months on a new completely ad-free database for European products, brands, services and companies. A few days ago we released the site. The website focuses on usability with a simple search form and a clear structure. After the technical development we are now in the process of filling the database with content.

Can this be right?

I’ve begun discontinuing many US services in favor of EU ones. However, I’ve noticed that some individuals, instead of simply ceasing to use American products, resorted to illegally downloading everything. While it’s true that the money goes to the US when you pay, it can’t justify disrespecting others’ hard work and effort while still consuming or using their products, and it is also illegal. This is especially true considering that they likely don’t have any direct connection to MAGA. This applies to actors, directors, YouTubers, and many others. We should simply cease using their products without giving them any further consideration.

Edit: adding to the last line, we should give instead more attention to locally and European made creations and products

Normal is a chain of shops from Denmark selling personal care and make up products at good prices. Also cleaning products, snacks and beverages.

Currently have shops in the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway), Netherlands, France, Spain and Portugal. Most of the brands are from Denmark but also from Germany, United Kingdom and other countries. Here they have several Spanish brands but I suppose they will have brands from the country the shop is opened.

Germans do know it and balcony solar systems are booming here. They are small solar systems with 1-2 modules that you simply plug into an outlet. And that's it. You produce up to 800W of electricity, reduce your power bill and they are dirt cheap - german deals pages sometimes have them for under 200€.

They are easy to install (just place them somewhere where the sun is shining and bolt/strap them down so that they are stormproof) and plug them into an outlet. You will pay less for electricity, it helps in the fight against climate change and has the neat effect that you buy less fossil fuels from Russia, the USA, Saudi-Arabia, Katar and other nice countries.

Your local regulations might vary and you might have to discuss this with your landlord. The regulations in Germany are quite relaxed, you basically have a right to use them even in rental properties.

And if you have the space: Think bigger and buy a bigger solar system for your roof. They rock and it's awesome to produce your own electricity.
