Is there published timeline or roadmap of when various fixes/features might be implemented? If not, would such a thing be possible?

Personally, I'm eagerly awaiting fixes to Horizontal swipe between posts and extended target areas for comment actions, and I imagine most people have some feature they would like to see implemented. It would be a nice treat to get a sneak peek behind the curtain at what we can look forward to.

I've noticed that recently comnents on posts no longer have the long colored bars next to them showing their depth into the reply chain. Was this deliberately changed, and is there a way to bring it back?

I've gone through the setting but couldn't find an option to delete cache on app exit.

Is this possible? It seems like connect is generating the largest cache storage of all my apps

I've encountered two problems. How to reproduce them? Here:

1. I post a comment. Then I go back to it via my post history. I edit it and post it. Connect then can't find a comment and shows error. Pressing back returns me first to my cached unedited comment, then to my post history. After a refresh it appears edited.
2. I had answered to a comment that was later removed by a mod. Someone replied to me. I tap either on that notification or on that comment in my history and connect returns a post without any comments at all. It's that comment with Grozev's interview: https://sh.itjust.works/comment/9158971

That's a 30 comment thread. The reply button disappears around 20ish comments. I'm curious if the app can even do anything to make things like this readable.

If I just swap from app to app without going to my home screen, I get a black screen. I have to got to my home screen and then back to see any content

On android, Samsung 22 ultra.

I see that the new version (1.0.171) says "now jumping to the top when doing a refresh".

For me the list gets refreshed when I open the app. So when I spent way too much time scrolling and finally stop and then later want to spend even more time continuing to scroll I open the app, it refreshes and jumps to the top and I loose the position way down. Now I have to scroll through all the posts I already saw to get to where I left off on the top today list.

Am I just using the app wrong? Or is there a way to make the app only update manually and not automatically when re-opening the app?

I'm using the connect app on my galaxy s20 FE and when I want to change the volume of a video or audio file it does nothing. what's up?

edit: figured it out. there's a setting for that. however that setting should be opt in, not default.

This has already been mentioned in a few posts with no response. You can't scroll Lemmy for any length of time without Connect crashing now. No update from the developer and the app is near unusable.

App crashing after scrolling a while. Videos, gifs, scrolling quickly seems to hasten to process. Has LeakCanary been integrated to check?

Normally you tap the text of a comment to make the vote buttons appear, but if the comment is only a picture, clicking it will just open the picture. I've only been able to vote by tapping the username and then finding the comment from their profile. Let me know if I'm missing something.

Edit: I've found that tapping text to the right of the username (the score or the time since posted) brings up the vote buttons, so this seems to resolve the issue.

Temporarily turning off unicode filtering may work if the users display name is different. (Some users may not be aware of what is causing this problem, unfortunately.)

(Maybe putting brackets around [usernames] might allow the "blank" usernames to be clicked.)

I just noticed that you can't access any mod tool like the "mod queue" from this app. I guess it's a niche use case but it would be convenient if mods could use this app also.

Bug 1:

The sort order when swiping through posts does not match the sort order set in the main scroll feed. I haven't been able to figure out what sort order is being used, but the second post is often the same no matter which post was initially selected from the main feed.

Bug 2:

The "swipe for previous" gesture doesn't go past whichever post was originally selected from the main scroll feed. My ideal Lemmy browsing experience is "sort by new", scroll to the oldest post I have not yet viewed, and "swipe for previous" until I'm caught up to the present. The current swipe functionality doesn't seem to support this.

Bug 3:

Swiping to a post sometimes results in errors such as "Couldn't load via local instance. Actions may be unavaila" and "Post 123456 from lemmy.instance failed to load". Strangely enough, these posts often load just fine when opened via the main scroll feed.

As I don’t use swiping gestures on comments, I would find it useful if the “swipe for next post” area were extended to include the comments section when comment swipe actions are disabled.

For posts with zero or few comments, I would find it useful if the swipe area also included the empty region with no comments :)

Hello anyone else experiencing some videos over Connect sound it's not working?

I'm wondering if it's just me or there is some problem with Connect.

Edit: Nevermind apparently videos have no sound from source so I believe there is no problem with Connect.

When doing a search for community names, it would be cool to also see the instance name a community is located on. (The user count of the community is still useful.)

A nice-to-have: Show the date of the last post to a community in search. (Some communities have gone stale even after a few thousand users.)

Sometimes I need to clear app cache and app settings and would like to save my Connect preferences somewhere and restore them later.

(I don't particularly care if saved setting files are compatible with newer versions of Connect. Making settings files compatible across different app versions can be really annoying sometimes. I get it.)

Is there anyway to see all your posts to different communities? I have made posts and do not remember where, is there an inbox like feature to see them all in one place?

As the title says, the post images are always square and because of that non-aspect-ratio-respecting scaling a lot of images are stretched.

Is there any option to disable this non-sense?

Hi, it's been a while since I've done one of these so this will be changes between 150 and 171. I've been focused on resolving image and performance issues mainly in this time but I also added a couple new things too. Youtube links now open in-app (configurable in settings), there's an option to remove special characters from display names which also changes bubble letters into plain letters, search results are now sortable, and mentions now show up correctly in the inbox.

I seem to have gotten a saved account that can't be switched to and therefore can't be removed.

My instance had some server side issues and on PC I had to delete my cookies to get the desktop site to work. Connect wouldn't work and I had to add the account again. At some point the account name has changed to my email address @feddit.uk, which looks weird since it has two @ symbols. The newly added account works fine, but there's this stuck second version of it.

When I try to switch to the broken version I get an error pop up that just says "Error: unable to switch to 'me@email.domain@feddit.uk'" and it seems to retain the currently selected account.

Since I can't switch to that account, I can't sign out to have Connect forget it. So I don't see a way to get rid of it.

Has anyone else run into the same problem? Any suggestions?

I just came back to this app after a bit, trying to sign in but I for the life of me cannot find them. The three bottom buttons don't have them, neither does the kebab menu up top

I wanted to say thank you for this great app to browse Lemmy. I appreciate all the work you're putting to keep the app alive with updates. I see a lot of bug reports and/or complain but not enough thanks and positive feedback.
