I heard there was a tracker with engineering software on it. I don't know what the name of it was. I don't know if its real or not.

Specifically I am looking for Gerber AccuMark. It's fashion design software, industry standard stuff. They don't have a free viewer as far as I know, and you lose a lot of the fashion specific data when you convert from their format into something like DXF. Basically, you need a license for this software if you want to do anything in fashion. It's interesting, considering the countries where the designs are produced have relatively weak currencies and the smaller shops can't afford these things. I would like to install it in a VM or something and be done with it.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Since some Lemmy users have asked me via DM and also searched my other socials to ask me about my old bypass I thought I'd share my new one with Lemmy too.

I also uploaded the source in case anyone wants to look at it (or even extend it, who knows).

Sorry for the extraordinary wait.

Have fun guys :)

Edit: I should have known Lemmy wouldn't like a semi private forum, even though it's all about things like this there. Here is the already build SLSsteam.so + Source Code for anyone to download anonymously if they prefer it that way.

To use it just extract the SLSsteam.so somewhere and then start steam like this:

LD_AUDIT="/full/path/to/SLSsteam.so" steam

To build it just run: make

  • rdbo: For his great libmem library, which saved me a lot of development and learning time
  • oleavr and all the other awesome people working on Frida for easy instrumentation which helps a lot in analyzing, testing and debugging
  • All the folks working on Ghidra, this was my first project using it and I'm in love with it!

Edit history:

  • Uploaded update with more hooks because I just noticed family sharig still killed some games
  • Added a config file to ~/.config/SLSsteam/config.yaml

I'm pretty sure. I think. I can't find a core2.dat in my Linux filesystem so i assume it works some other way, and therefore it's cooked.

The reason i want to do this is because transplanting core2.dat is what you usually do to recover your settings and transfers. I this case though i've installed it on my Linux PC so i don't think this is going to work.

I've resorted to exporting all magnets and re-importing them, but that has a few drawbacks.

I'll update if i find better solutions. So far, if you want to transfer your Tixati from Windows to Linux, my advice is probably don't

Seems like many are moving towards LCP in the future for e-books. But last I heard the NoDRM gang had to exclude the LCP DeDRM from the Calibre plugin due to legal issues (GitHub), and either way it was for an older version of LCP so it wouldn't work nowadays. Do you think someone will come up with a way to DeDRM these?

Internet Archive moving towards LCP as well

GitHub's latest transparency report reveals that the company received 2,000 valid DMCA takedown notices last year, resulting in the removal of over 31,151 projects. Targeted repositories included copied code, but also pirate apps, IPTV playlists, and many Nintendo Switch emulators. Circumvention takedowns increased slightly, but GitHub notes that these continue to be heavily scrutinized.

My desktop hard drives are maxing out & I'm seeking some type of external storage expansion for my PC which I run a Jellyfin server on. This would be for storing my torrent data and also working towards a 3-2-1 backup solution equivalent to about ~10-20Tbs of storage space, maybe more.

I'm leaning towards an enclosure type of setup with several ~10-12Tbs HDDs in it of which one would be removed after complete backup and stored offsite as part of the 3-2-1 strategy but I'm not sure. I'd need something very simple to work with as I'm not very Hardware-literate.

Also, I am finding it difficult to find a reliable Cloud service, again as part of the 3-2-1 scheme except maybe Filen which seems to have good reviews on TrustPilot

Any positive suggestions on how to store & access large amounts of data safely for a long period of time & appropriate hardware/software to do so would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Kindly!

Meta claims torrenting pirated books isn’t illegal without proof of seeding

In one of the AI lawsuits faced by Meta, the company stands accused of distributing pirated books. The authors who filed the class-action lawsuit allege that Meta shared books from the shadow library LibGen with third parties via BitTorrent. Meta, however, says that it took precautions to prevent 'seeding' content. In addition, the company clarifies that there is nothing 'independently illegal' about torrenting.

Greece continued to expand anti-piracy efforts in 2024, issuing a record-breaking number of blocking decisions. Most blockades target live sports streams offered by illegal IPTV subscription services. To increase the deterrent effect, a new legislative amendment makes it possible to fine subscribers of these services up to 750 euros. However, this may prove challenging.

Wondering if there any forums, irc chats, etc. dedicated to pirating software on Linux, not games.

Seems difficult to find most stuff. I've beeb able to find Davinici Resolve, which was suprisingly simple, just download officially than run a terminal command. Houdini was on vfxmed. (a slightly older version, but 20) But thats about the extent of what I've found, no autodesk programs or any other expensive software with monthly fees, like boris fx, maxon, etc.

Everything I'm looking for has linux versions, but the price altogether is too high for hobby stuff I use one month out of the year sporadically and will never make money off.

Got a servarr setup and just using public trackers. But I've got some specific things I'm after.

There is a sport documentary that came out last year that's still going around film festivals. Nowhere to be found, I didn't get to see it in my city as I was ill. I'd happily pay to see it, but again, nowhere to be found.

Another independent documentary about marine science in my local sea. Again, no chance of getting it anywhere. I've gone as far as emailing director asking to buy a copy, but no reply.

There is a small scale LGBT show about relationships I want to watch. Once again, nowhere to be found.

People big up private trackers and so sometimes I feel like I'm missing out staying on public ones. But I wonder if this kind of stuff is really to be found on private trackers. Or is some stuff just truly too obscure to be dug up? Does everyone else also have those few things that just remain unavailable despite everything you do?

Altice, parent company of Internet provider Optimum, must disclose the personal details of a hundred alleged music pirates. The request comes from a group of prominent record labels and is part of an ongoing copyright infringement liability lawsuit. Altice, meanwhile, will receive anti-piracy information, including that related to a letter the RIAA previously sent to BitTorrent Inc., the owner of popular torrent client uTorrent.

I already have the latest 'bypass paywall' clean installed , but I'm finding one of two things lately : either some previous bypassed sites are becoming subject to restrictions or some recently accessible sites are now restricted.

Case in point: Vox.

When I try to read any articles on the site now , I keep getting blocked by a popup that tells me to become a paid member.

The site use to take pride in being (mostly) free but now it appears to be (mostly) paid.

Is there anyway of getting around this?

thanks

Title. Any format is fine, ISO or XEX, I don't really have a preference. Thanks in advance, y'all.

I'm inherently distrustful of anything that is going to be installed on my computer, especially from more shadier sources (and while z-library is great, it does exist in a grey area). Is the z-library desktop launcher good? Is it safe?

I’ve seen some digitizers on amazon that would do the trick but they’re rather clunky and don’t split songs as they are played or save any meta data. I presume this would be possible given that the song title is often displayed on various Bluetooth car stereos. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated for hardware / software.

I've been using a lot of torrents for my jellyfin server and my current process is the rename the files to something similar to whats found in the jellyfin documentation around naming and had a couple questions.

Currently, almost all the torrents i find default to something similar to this:

LinuxISO.DIRECTOR'S.CUT.1080p.10bit.BluRay.6CH.x265.HEVC-PSA

I usually change the name in the in the qBitTorrent client before downloading to something like LinuxISO.HEVC-PSA but was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to do the renamings. Its not really that tedious but its more so If im wanting to seed files again later, I would need the file names to match exactly. What I've found in my search is software like sonarr and radar could possibly create links? I'm not very familiar with what that does exactly but I was also wondering if its possible to have Jellyfin read the name via a sub folder such as Movies/LinusISO/ or from metadata.

Anyone else know the least tedious workaround for this? Can Jellyfin actually just read the original file naming?
