So uhh

I don't exactly know where to begin. So I'll start by saying I have nothing but love and respect for FNAF and the series creator Scott Cawthon.

Nothing I say here is intended as an attack on the franchise or the people involved. If anything the opposite and I look forward to upcoming FNAF projects like the DBD Collab and the Secret of the Mimic game.

Our story takes place in the summer of 2016. FNAF World had recently been announced and Scott was very openly talking to his fanbase on the forums for FNAF 4. Most of it about FNAF World, the then upcoming RPG.

Now one interesting side tangent is that the first FNAF game and Undertale came out and met critical and financial success at the same time.

This is relevant because early on there were rumors discussed by fans of both that FNAF World was going to have a shout out to Undertale. This was discussed to DEATH on the FNAF 4 forums. So much so that Scott vehemently denied not only the rumors but any connection the two would have.

Me being literally autistic did not take this to mean "Hey stop talking about Undertale." But instead "Go off on a tangent about similarities between the two. This would be a good idea."

So I did and received a permanent ban from the FNAF 4 Steam Forums. Everytime I go there, I see a big red banner that reads "Since you won't drop it. I don't have a choice."

The sad thing is, I did drop it and would twice more briefly have the chance to speak with Scott Cawthon on the boards for FNAF World (Where I made a post of encouragement he responded positively) to in which I made clear my refusal to refund the game. And FNAF Sister Location (Where he had a light response to me sarcastically asking where the sister was located. Something along the lines of "You'll find out when you play the game." It was a long time ago

Both times we got on fine and he seemed to appreciate my support for his works, yet only after that did I ever think to ask about an unban for FNAF 4.

It's not that FNAF 4 is such a happening board or anything. It's even my least favorite fnaf game (Sorry Scott the audio cues still do not work worth a darn) but I've always seen that ban, as of my writing this the only steam forum ban I have on record to my knowledge, at least the only that wasn't eventually overturned... as a dark mark on my record, a stain from when I was a younger person in her early 20s who let her hype and excitement run ahead of her logic

Fast forward to today. 9 years later. I've asked a friend who is friends with the fnaf mod team about removing the ban only for them to say they would but FNAF 4 was not a board they had jurisdiction over. at least that's how I understood it. I wasn't actually involved in that conversation...

She suggested I talk to Scott about it and I tried to but sadly that isn't as easy to do as it was in 2016. Scott is big time now and most of his emails are clogged with branding deals, business conversations, and fan mail... I've sent multiple emails about the situation and received nothing back in reply.

So this is where I'm left. Does anybody have an ideas? Think I can talk to valve about it? Should I try to make a public post on a fnaf board explaining the situation?

It's been 9 years, countless more FNAF games, and three US presidents later but the ban and the embarrassment it represents still lingers.

And I would appreciate any advice anyone has concerning the situation. Thank you.

Dear @steam

Any PC game marked at $69 or above will be added to my ignore list regardless of the "quality" of the game

Enough is enough

Hey, my friend from another country wanted to gift me undertale since it was deeply discounted during current sale but steam had to step in and block gifting since there was price difference higher than 10% and now I am wondering… who thought that it would be good idea?

My 8 favorite demos from Steam Next Fest, including Promise Mascot Agency, Wanderstop, Demon Tides, and more! The quality of these demos are getting better with each Next Fest and I found some truly great demos this time around. There's something here for everyone: 3D platformers, tactical RPGs, puzzle games, and even a cosplay game.

Good afternoon y'all.

I recently installed Steam on a laptop running a fresh install of Debian 12 & KDE Plasma. I've done this dance numerous times on other hardware however, this time when installing games through Steam they hang at 100% Downloaded & Installed and only complete when i pause them, one occasion two games simply wouldn't install and took me a full day fighting with Steam to finish them and clear the queue.

Steam can't seem to move files between drives (note: one drive is an SSD and the other is an HDD) or uninstall files and i assumed this was a permissions issue at first however, comparing the directory permissions from the laptop to my desktop (also running Debian 12 & KDE Plasma) i see nothing out of the ordinary.

Any suggestions are appreciated - Some things I've already tried.

  • Purged steam from the system (including ~/.steam)
  • Cleared 'Download Cache' in Steam settings
  • chown & chmod (777) the common directories (~/.steam/steamapps/common)
  • Waited numerous hours assuming the HDD was ridiculously slow - moving/deleting files in the CLi shell works without issue!
  • Tried different download regions/countries

Is there a lightweight version of the steamstore? It's loading forever and feels very bloated to me.

It's kinda sad that a game you love can only be 100%ed once, forever. I propose an option (and it should really be optional) to reattain the cheevos for a game you've already maxed. The original achievement unlock info should remain, but if the in-game pop-ups could be set to begin again, and for the next unlocked cheevo to add a little star or a +1 to your cheevo icon or something (even if it's only visible to yourself), that would be awesome.

Anyone else wish they could 100% a game multiple times or am I just too autistic for my own good? 👀

Mod makers rejoice: The Team Fortress 2 SDK has arrived! We've updated the Source SDK with all of TF2's client and server game code. Change, extend, or rewrite TF2, and publish them as mods on Steam.

If Linus were to visit Mount Everest, he'd reach base camp, spend the next day criticizing the sherpas, calling them foolish for taking the well-established path, and insisting that a direct line to the summit is obviously the best option.

Bazite has solid onboarding, hardware support (including Nvidia and AMD), and, dare I say, even printer support. All things he complains about in this video. But then again, what do I know? I'm just a sherpa.

Hello everyone! I have this issue with my steam on arch linux where it takes about 5 minutes and sometimes more to start, then I keep getting connection errors when trying to sign in. Ive opened an issue on the github page you can read for more details (logs etc)

Basically now I'm wondering if I should just reinstall steam and see if that fixes it. Here is the situation though. I have a steam library in my /home partition, as well as on a separate hard drive which is always mounted. I have copied the steamapps directory from the home side of things to a temporary location, so I assume if I reinstall and copy it back I should have all my games and stuff set up exactly as they were before the issue? Also, do I need to backup the steamapps directory from the hard drive which is separate to /home?

The reason I'm so hesitant to just wipe everything and reinstall, is because I spent a good couple of weeks trying to get Silent Hunter 3 set up with steamtinkerlaunch, and even on release it was quite a finnicky game, let alone 20-something years later on linux running through proton, and now I have it at a point where it works.

Anyway, I would love some help, so thanks in advance!

P.s. Updating system didn't solve issue

Just checked, and I have all the dependencies listed on the package page satisfied in some form. Now, whether some version is slightly outdated, I don't know how to check

Reinstalling steam doesn't seem to fix the issue.

pacman -R steam-native-runtime steam
pacman -S steam

When launching from the terminal again I get the same output. The 2 lines that stand out are the following:

src/clientdll/steamengine.cpp (2773) : Assertion Failed: CSteamEngine::BMainLoop appears to have stalled > 15 seconds without event signalled
src/clientdll/steamengine.cpp (2773) : Assertion Failed: CSteamEngine::BMainLoop appears to have stalled > 15 seconds without event signalled

Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this?

[SOLUTION] I had to run

pacman -Syu steam

which seems to have also installed a package called lsb-release

Im not sure why running a full system upgrade and also uninstalling and reinstalling steam didn't also grab this package when I did those, but there you go. I do a full system update by simply running yay as to my understanding that is the same as running yay -Syu but it first runs pacman -Syu. If anyone could provide some insight into why that might be I would appreciate that so I can learn from this experience. Thanks again everyone who tried to help!
