Do you just use a different chromium based browser, or are you out here rocking Ladybird caude you're cooler than the rest of us

I guess WebKit is a more likely option

I use Firefox but I can't say I love the way mozilla manages their projects 😅 I'm hopeful something like ladybird will eventually, someday, be a viable replacement

Yeah chromium. And yeah, same, not a fan of Mozilla anymore (used to be). Actually, I'm trying to get rid of Thunderbird as well. DeMozillaing myself bit by bit.

Oh that's interesting. Your dislikement towards Mozilla's shenanings is valid, but what areas makes you hate Mozilla more than Google? Is it also due to convienience issues, because some sites are broken on Firefox?

I consider Mozilla useless nowadays. It just exist for CEOs and the likes to grab Google's money while asking for donations. They aren't contributing anything significant. And yes, FF is slow as fuck and plainly unusable on Android. I didn't mention Google anywhere in my comment.

This simply isn't true. FF on Android is fine and allows you to use tons of extensions for far more things than ad blocking, such as the wonderful Consent-O-Matic that automatically deals with cookie popups for you. Huge timesaver on mobile.

Haven't tried Chromium on Android, how's the extension support?

[–] Engywuck@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

No extensions, AFAIK. Maybe Edge has it, not sure tho. I just use the inbuilt adblocker+ControlD and 0 ads.

Mozilla is kind of a mess, but part of that is it's actually a whole bunch of different companies all named Mozilla something or other. It's really easy to go down a rabbit hole of angry videos and articles that make it sound even worse than it actually is, but yeah, there's some nonsense going on. It's especially sad how little the main foundation seems to care about Firefox anymore.

MZLA Technologies, the company that runs Thunderbird, has kind of worked around the shenanigans of the main Mozilla Foundation by directly collecting donations from users that are specifically earmarked for work on Thunderbird. They're doing good work with a fairly safe funding model, so I don't worry about Thunderbird at all, personally.
