On a yearly average, our household produce enough for 3 households besides our own from our solar panels. We have battery to store enough to have very near zero consumption in the summer half of the year.
Despite that we pay almost $10 per moth on average. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Can't you go off-grid?
No I need power during winter. The problem is that when we produce the most during sunny sommer days, prices go negative.
For instance today it is costing os almost $5 to export surplus energy. Of course other days we make money, and the net result is a tiny profit over the year. But not enough to cover what we buy during the winter months. It's way way more expensive to buy than what we get for selling.
