Hi all, I am trying out scheduling posts with my account. I can set them up initially but then when I review them, they're set to a much later time. I assume that's a time zone issue? For example, I set a post for 6:00am in the ui, saved. On review, it says 10:00am.

Can someone please explain how this should work?

I love having the feature though, so thank you to whoever created it!

Hello,

Timezones are a complex issue, you can follow the discussions here: https://chat.piefed.social/#narrow/channel/4-developers/topic/scheduler

FYI @innermeerkat@jlai.lu

So my browser should be telling piefed what my TZ is. Oh, interesting. And, I don't mean to make anyone work on this. I was just hoping to understand it better.

It occurs to me now that I created my scheduled post while on a VPN, so that might be related. I'll experiment with it a bit next (on and off the VPN).

I don't know enough about how the JS works to say whether the VPN would cause it, but @innermeerkat@jlai.lu was already working on this because their browser was messing it up and insisting they lived in Reykjavik. So, it clearly isn't such a rare case that we can ignore it. We think it might be a privacy feature of some browsers that they don't want to give away a tz.
