Anxiety spirals? Is that some kind of slang for stressing?
It's when you feel bad, then feel bad about feeling bad, then feel bad about feeling bad about feeling bad, etc.
Just sounds like stressing to my personal self. Why add additional self referential terminology to obsolete, phase out, or temporarily obfuscate the existing lexicon verbiage?
It's a way to help ourselves understand reactions that go beyond regular stress. Often we talk about this sort of thing when we're trying to get a handle on addiction or self-harm or some other type of damaging behavior. Sure, there are technical terms, but the idea is to give people an easier term to remember: "I'm starting to spiral, I need to [do whatever I figured out with my therapist]."
