General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

New cabinet pick for the US on its way, I guess.

Trumps new pick for “Minister for Women’s Affairs” probably.

Evil wins again, as it always does.

There’s no way they’ll return to Romania, and I don’t expect the US will extradite them. Aren’t they wanted for offences here too?

They are indeed wanted in the UK. I too don't believe they will be extradited to the UK for those cases. Looks like the brothers got at least 4 years of freedom on American soil.

Or they're used as a bargaining chip by the US.

This has also been my speculation, but it seems there a civil lawsuit in the US, from a Floridian victim.

From the FT on the 17th of February (paywalled):

Is that a Trump bargaining chip before the talks with Starmer?

Maybe not Starmer related, just asshole related. Some sources saying their appeal was successful:

More context in this post which cites a Romanian source.

Thanks for that. Looks like the US doesn't have enough nonces, so they decided to import more. I'm sure the American people will love that.

We just need to wait four years, then we'll have a go at extraditing them. I'm sure a new administration would be happy to get rid of them, but it does mean they'll be straight back to making the Big Web even more toxic.

Wild to see the GC self-proclaimed feminists like Rowling championing Trump when he is literally bringing the face of misogynist influencer culture into his inner circle. Actual feminists have been warning about this for years.
