We have to agree where we ARE before we stand a chance to agree about what we do from here.

These people have cheered on the most heinous shit, you can't reconcile with that. The fuck?

"You don't have to admit you were wrong"

🤣

What an opener to appeal for unity, Jesus fucking Christ.

The American Left and Right are indistinguishable people apart from political views.

Imagine what y'all could achieve if the circlerks were united as one big fucking circlejerk. That's what Putin is blocking because GAWD DAMN was it effective in the last century.

But if unity can't be started until someone admits something they don't believe... Cool. Enjoy the dying years of your country, furled by stubbornness above all else.

I reiterate; The American Left and Right are indistinguishable people. Shouldn't that mean something for common ground sake? Shake fucking hands ffs

The American Left and Right are indistinguishable people.

One side wants to make women second class citizens and make trans people stop existing. The other wants to protect those people's rights.

If you think the American left and right are indistinguishable, you are all sorts of ignorant.

"Nah, eight words in, I think I've got enough here to unload my insecurities without it seeming at all irrelevant to the full comment. In fact, I'm so confident I have the full context, I'll include a full-stop there in the quote. The words immediately after were probably useless. There! Now, time to finish it off with a 'If you think...' retort that will definitely be on point and worth everyone's time."

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Nah, eight words in, I think I’ve got enough here to unload my insecurities without it seeming at all irrelevant to the full comment.

It doesn't matter how many words in it was. Your statement was wrong. Period.

I don't care how many times you say the word "circlejerk" after that. You were wrong.

Then you proceeded to repeat it again. And were wrong, again.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

You are so indoctrinated it's pointless. Even hypotheticals are for realises at this level. Enjoy your society. You've made it what it is.

You're not wrong, but "Our division is caused by those evil foreigners" isn't it.

We have our own oligarchs, whom are much more influential than any foreign entity and have just as much interest in keeping the working class divided and confused. One of them is the literal president.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

how about this.

you were lied to, we told you as much. you refused to listen. listen now. stand down, and the only thing hurt will be your pride.

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

you stop at you where lied to, you do not need to do the I told you so, you do not need to shame them. If you want to bring people on board you do not antagonize them more than you have to

[–] revanthetrueemperor@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

But you do need to shame them! because if you don't they will continue to say the same nonsense. Trying to be nice failed. And do you really want these moron on your team Because i dont.

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

you need to persuade them, you do not need to shame them, there is a difrence, shaming them will only make them steadfast in their oposition to you.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 5 points 6 days ago

Country boys will be hot again once they burn those Trump flags.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Wait wait wait. So the people who support treating humans like they are disposable trash undeserving of rights if they dare stray from the very narrowly defined normative values are now okay because they changed sides? Fuck that. They still support violence against others and hate against the unknown. They are still undeserving of acceptance.

Supporting Nazis will make us all Nazis.

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 5 points 6 days ago (2 children)

There's always these brainlet comments under this repost. Um, would you rather they stay Nazis so you can pretend to feel morally superior while not doing anything about it?

They lied to themselves.

[–] CosmicCleric@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

A popular older phrase...

"Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it."

If step one is to admit that they've been lied to, then step two has to have them admit that they were wrong in how they voted. Otherwise we'll go through this again, again, and again.

But that'll be a hard sell, as nobody likes to admit that they've been conned/taken advantage of. Thats human nature.

Democrats can admit that Kamala is a shit candidate and maga can admit Trump is a shit president… it’s not that hard actually…

Admitting that a candidate is not good is different than admitting that you voted for the wrong person that's destroying the country (regardless of party).

Also, I've never heard a MAGA person say what you said they can say (italicized part).

Sure… but to put it into perspective democratic leadership was saying that Biden, who looked and sounded like he had dementia, was the greatest president since FDR…. They certainly need to bear responsibility for most of the fault of our current situation.

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

You chose to listen to the ones who lied, and ignored the ones who warned

[–] praxis_jack@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago

This is the correct way to do it. We're all in the same boat no matter what choices we made that brought us here. If we keep up with the petty I told you so's or doing things out of spite of others choices were going to stay falling down this nightmare path. A lot of people make bad choices but not everyone is doing it cause they are a terrible person.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Who the hell is going to be convinced by a patronizing image like this?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

We’ve never said anything different. You’re just now realizing this.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

There's no small number of people on the left who'd rather say "I told you so" than "I look forward to working with you."
