One of the men goes for her phone. The other grabs at her hands. Ozturk screams. Shock and fear ripple through her voice. Two masked women join them, tugging at her backpack, peeling the straps from her shoulders. “I’m going somewhere, I need to call someone,” she pleads. “We’re the police. Relax,” one of the men says in response.

They surround her. Then, one by one, they pull their neck gaiters up to cover their faces. “You don’t look like police,” a voice off screen says. “Why are you hiding your faces?” The questions continue, but the figures don’t respond. Instead, they cuff Ozturk, cross the street, and put her in an unmarked SUV. She is gone.

Just a hunch but these people don't move like cops... Not sure why I think that. Spidey senses. What if they're some kind of private contractors, not cops or military (though maybe ex), like a private "hit squad" since I have no better word for it

What is the coverage of this in traditional is like? I know they most likely will ignore it while talking about the leak but this is a blunt attack on democracy.

Makes me think if they're going after citizens if this gets normalized. Although I'm not sure what they can do if you're a citizen, since they can't deport you, unless they make some sort of terrorist claim and send you to El Salvador maybe?
