reagan passed himself off as a harmless and loveable old man to the public and now i wonder if biden's doing the same thing; odd that they were contemporaries.

He also pretended to "work very hard" for a ceasefire. Or as AOC told us apparently.

We really need to be more sceptical of celebrities, politicians - anybody in a position of influence. I remember thinking Obama and Biden seemed "wholesome". Obviously, that's an incredibly naive take, but it's one that many of us are susceptible to as humans.

We are eager to find "gods": people we can workship without the friction of scrutiny or criticism. It feels good - even blissful - to adore someone unconditionally. Whatever the mechanic, it would be great if we could identify it - delineate it - so we can recognise it and do the slightly tougher job of restraining our adoration of people in power.

We can still see them as humans and treat them with basic decency, but as long as masses of us fall under the spell of adoration we will continue to live in hell, or visit it on our neighbours.

Shame on anyone who voted for Biden.
