I reckom it's an awareness issue. This is the first time I've seen this table posted outside of the dedicated community on lemmy.

The individual country thresholds does not matter anymore. 7 countries have reached the threshold, which is the important bit.
Now we just need 1 million signatures total, it doesn't matter from which country.
'It's not us'
- Germany
I am American citizen, therefore I imagine it would either be illegal or extremely damaging to their cause if I signed for one that is designated for European government.
I will join ones here in the States though.
I've looked at signing, but I don't have the required documentation and I can't get it anymore because my former fellow compatriots keep voting for Russian shills for almost 2 decades and at this point I've have essentially lost citizenship for all intents and purposes due to the shit laws they pass.
Probrally because most people dont know nor care, or the fact that this isnt likley to go anywhere
Do you have sources for your claim that it wont go anywhere?
The UK officially responded, meanwhile on their website they have this:
- EU Results: A dead end, there was no consistency from the various offices and was likely a redundant measure towards contacting the DGCCRF -Germany Results: Said they won't act, but we should go through the ACCC to resolve this.
- Canada results: A dead end, it said the provinces will have to deal with the issue instead, which are likely too small to impact the industry.
- US results: No response, but this was expected.
- Brazil results: Failed due to us requiring sales figures on "The Crew" in order to proceed, which we weren't able to obtain.
The fact is they want to modify copyright laws to allow for the preservation of media, the amount of corporate backlash is absolutely massive and I wouldn't be surprised if shadowy forces are ensuring this doesn't go anywhere. In addition governments see absolutely no historical, educational, cultural, or historical value in video games.
So you're assuming based on failed attempts. Psa: there is no relation between things failing and the likelyhood of them succeeding. Many things have failed many times and then succeeded.
Im saying theres a reason why they keep failing. Corporate interests would never allow for it to succeed.
I know that. And you're right that corporations are working hard to keep good things from happening. I'm saying history and science are disagreeing with you (edit:) about the conclusion you draw from it.
Great initiative! Never heard of it before. Austria should have one more vote now :)
I keep delaying because I need to renew my digitalID because eu petitions only accept dni-e as a form of digital signature which is the less used in my country as other forms work way better.
Anyway, I hope to renew my digital signature next week and sign.
