This is stupid. This will not stop spies and terrorists, they will just create fake accounts. This will only hurt legitimate immigrants.

What I said can be applied to any type of visa. The policy is not going to fix anything, it's only going to invade peoples privacy and turn away legitimate visa applicants.

Make a fake one that posts like... idk post random tech stuff that you could be reasonably interested in. Make nothing critical of authority. As a decoy profile.
Then you can rant about big brother on an anonymous Lemmy Account over TOR.
Finally a killer app for AI. Create social media profiles and use AI agents to populate them with bland uncontroversial drivel.

This is why I’ve already deleted basically everything, social media is a cancer that pushes us further and further apart and replaces meaningful interactions with vapid and shallow counterfeit interactions, it’s a net loss for anyone using it at this point.

I mean they make you sign away your rights and tell them if you’ve ever been affiliated with any one who was in or if you joined a communist party. So this is just another layer on the shit cake.
Of course, how would they know if you don't list any? Oh, that's right, PRISM. Fully expect that people who don't have social media accounts to get accused of having them simply because someone else shares the same name and did say First Amendment protected stuff, like Donald Trump is a terrible fucking president and should be impeached.
