Kat Cammack recounts emergency room ordeal but claims ‘fearmongering’ by Democrats and pro-choice activists sowing confusion among medical professionals

Florida Republican Rep. Kat Cammack has revealed that she almost died last year as a result of her state’s six-week abortion ban, which left hospital staff reluctant to treat her ectopic pregnancy for fear of criminal prosecution.

Cammack was only five weeks pregnant at the time, the embryo had no heartbeat and her own safety was in jeopardy, but nevertheless the congresswoman found herself forced to pull up the letter of the law on her phone to argue the case and even put in a call to Governor Ron DeSantis, without being able to reach him, before staff relented and came to her aid.

But surprisingly, given her ordeal, the representative does not feel the law itself is at fault and instead blames Democrats for scaring medical professionals into confusion over their responsibilities.

She should have stood by her religious and political principles, and just rode it out. It was God's, and MAGA's, will to put her through that ordeal, and he expected her to accept her fate.

Instead, she defied The MAGA Lord and fought to have a Democratic abortion. She's a Democrat now, destined for an eternity in a fiery torturous Hell. May God have mercy on her damned Democratic Soul.

/S, nobody really believes that nonsense.

Damn Democrats. They goaded us into getting rid of abortion, which I want. Because of that, I almost died. Democrats and their trickery need to be confined into camps to protect people from the woke mind virus.

I feel like a dick for pointing this out, but it'd be This-shit-for-brains' logic

No, you see, they meant "This-shit-for-brain-cell's logic;" the shit cell is singular.

Well, of course this law change doesn't faze a Republican, because they feel like they are able to do whatever the hell they want regardless of what the law says.

Unfortunately, the people who operate in the real world have to actually consider the consequences of their actions and whether they might be breaking the law. So the fact that the laws concerning the doctors' field of endeavour have been fucked around with makes them understandably confused. Not their fault they're confused. In fact, being concerned about the legality is definitely an indication of professionalism.

“There will be some comments like, ‘Well, thank God we have abortion services,’ even though what I went through wasn’t an abortion,” she said.

Dunno what the fuck else you wanna call it, but hey, gotta do those mental gymnastics.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

https://theauthoritarians.org/

Authoritarians compartmentalize everything. The conclusions are indisputable and so no two justifications must ever be mentally compared to one another. They don’t even realize they’re doing it, and will assume it is being done to them.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Which is why my elementary and middle school teachers hated me. Take a fiercely logical kid who has no qualms about pointing out contradictions, put them up against an authoritarian (who, let's be honest, probably works with kids because they're guaranteed to have power over them), and you're gonna end up with an angry adult and a kid who's regularly put in detention.

I have zero regrets. Authoritarians can get fucked. The only good thing I can surely say they'd ever done, was that they managed to radicalize me before puberty.

[–] shads@lemy.lol 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't know your teachers or situation and I am going to wildly generalise here, but having worked with teachers, they were probably just their best.

They are teaching a syllabus they didn't write (you can only put so much make up on that pig) to a group of largely disengaged students, for generally insufficient pay.

They probably just wanted to make it through the day without contemplating self harm.

A spirited contrarian student who fancies themselves an intellectual can be dealt with the ideal way, engaging them, acknowledging the short comings of teaching content to a wide range of intellects/engagement levels.

Or the less ideal way, draconian authority. Sounds like you ran up against the former. Sorry that was your experience.

I wish I could agree, but my schools had two types of teachers: newbies who were desperate to prove themselves, and tenured teachers who gave no fucks. Even the "cool" science teacher couldn't admit the truth when I came in with three different sources proving he had been spreading a myth to my class. There's no excuse for teachers who can't admit they were wrong - they have one job, to educate. Spreading false information is the opposite of what they should be doing, and I cannot forgive that.

Because these malignant narcissists that have infected out political systems are incapable of blaming themselves.

What a cunt, shame she pulled through.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 61 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If a loving god ever existed, he would not allow vile creatures such as this to be in any position of power. Yet, every position of power is filled with exactly this kind of human excrement. Only one thing will get rid of them.

I have to wonder if the Doctors weren't trolling her a bit. She had an ectopic pregnancy at 5 weeks. Not only is the abortion necessary, it was within the six-week limit, so it was perfectly legal on all counts. So why would they claim they were confused about the law?

I suspect they wanted to teach an arrogant Florida Republican a lesson about politics encroaching on the medical decisions between a doctor and their patient, and made her jump through a bunch of hoops first, just to make her feel the fear, anxiety, anger, and frustration of the average citizen whose medical care is being dictated by MAGA Nazis.

Remember, we are only hearing the side of a professional MAGA Nazi, so she's a proven liar.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Gotta keep her job you know?

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 83 points 2 days ago (2 children)

anyone who considers “democrats” “the left” needs to be fired and not allowed to run and be in office ever again.

[–] GoobyMcMooby@lemmy.zip 54 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Anyone not in the cult is “the left” or some other label that no longer means anything. It’s intentional to keep shifting public perception of anything that isn’t fascist is actually unamerican. No one wants to be an outsider, Timmy. You will enjoy your Medicaid cuts because if you don’t you’re a communist socialist woke CRT DEI feminist politically correct SJW who believes in intersectionality.

[–] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 46 points 2 days ago (10 children)

As a foreigner, it's lowkey fucking hilarious to see Americans call everything left-of-center "Leftist/socialist/radical", when even the Democrat party would typically be classed as slightly right of center in many democratic nations. Their attacks on countries like Sweden, Germany, Canada, etc. for enacting basic social programs to stem the damage from addictions and homelessness for example are pretty telling, as though it would be beneficial to society overall to leave people to their fates with no assistance, as though they were fish that jumped out of water onto the beach - as though they should just be left out in the sun to die, and rot in the open air while everyone passes by unconcerned.

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 19 points 2 days ago

These maga cultists think DICK CHENEY of all people is a commie librul. Forget left of center.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's why they can only win. It's s closed system and the media refuses to call bullshit.

[–] EldenLord@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Worse: The media is highly complicit, they push any agenda that powerhungry sociopaths pay them to vomit into the masses. Without a deinstitutionalized media landscape, the world will never know peace.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 3 points 1 day ago

Absolutely complicit.

We have a president who can barely form a sentence and the news barely comments on his mental decline and batshit choices. But bring up Biden and the jokes about his stability start flying.

[–] guyoverthere123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's such a shame, why would she have vote to hurt herself? Is she stupid?

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 37 points 1 day ago (1 children)

“There will be some comments like, ‘Well, thank God we have abortion services,’ even though what I went through wasn’t an abortion,” she said.

Yes. Yes she is.

[–] turtlesareneat@discuss.online 18 points 1 day ago

This is an important bit of cognitive dissonance occurring right now, Christians do not consider their "medically necessary" abortions to be "abortions." And they don't think anyone BUT them can actually have a medically necessary one, everyone else is using them for birth control. So the laws should become more restrictive, not less.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

There is also a fat joke I can say but I’m to classy of a lefty to say it. Dumb fat bitch.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

She was pregnant, so somebody rolled her in flour and looked for the wet spot.

[–] FuckFascism@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not as classy of a lefty, just whisper it in my ear.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)
