I sent Lutris a DM on Patreon. I've been a patron for almost as long as it has existed. I'd really hate to stop supporting them but if they continue to tolerate racism in their official Discord I will have no choice.
Anyone else who is a patron should consider messaging the project as well.

discord in general can fuck off and die. unsearchable online and irritating as hell to search within itself, I'm already at max servers and not paying for more, the forum feature is janky as fuck and loses my scroll position, ui is garbage, etc.
I haven't used lutris since it was new, and have been using bottles but I know nothinng about the devs or the community around it.
I'm sorry you had that experience. Discord moderating is all over the place in most Discords, it can be hard to find a decent one. I received a warning recently for sharing a link that had a curse word in the URL with a very popular Linux Discord where I see double standards as well. I joined the Lutris Discord server awhile back but never found good conversation so I just ignore it at this point. Their logo is ironic considering your experience.

With my experience over the last year, it's nice for once for someone to not just be like "Ohh so you think Hamas is good???" and all that bullshit for once.
Seeing far right adjacent shit go unchallenged is difficult for me to ignore, even moreso when they then just casually engage in racist rhetoric against Palestinians to excuse literal genocidal language. Was never really active in the discord until seeing that shit just being left alone to fester, and clearly it has the approval of whoever is left to mod there.

I went and snooped to see what happened. Doogie (M.D.) seems to be the one who did it. They deleted everything you posted and talked about it for a bit. There are a couple of boot lickers who praised them. Some others have come in to pick a fight with them.

No, I think they might've deleted other comments, too. There is a guy trying to get banned it seems by throwing around antisemitic speech. It's just chaos.

I guess damage control after what resplendent said, seeing as the stuff I mentioned as prompting a response from me I'm pretty sure had been up for a while and had a response from the mod already with no action (nothing about topics being inappropriate or anything like that, no actual moderation was done at the time). It was only me saying anything that prompted any reaction.

i was there when it happened. it was actual antisemitism (calling a jewish person the k slur, mentioning how jewish people have been expelled from several countries as some sort of sign that antisemitism is correct, implying that every jewish person supports the gaza genocide, etc). and on top of it all they went into another channel when said jewish person they called a slur pushed back, to call them the r slur. if only it were just someone saying israel is bad and shouldnt exist. 🙃
