YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
He also gave the moderator of /r/jailbait a singular trophy "pimp daddy" that no one else has received.
Reddit admins rn:
Jesus, what a shit show. Can they really be thinking their path will end well?
I unfortunately feel like it probably will end well for them, there really isn't a mainstream alternative for reddit. Lemmy isn't that easy to get into as an average user and the information on the reddit that have amassed over the years is just insane, I assume a lot of people are going to keep using reddit as if nothing has happened.
I don’t know why people are saying Lemmy is difficult. I’m as dumb as a box of hammers and all I did was Google “Lemmy World”, clicked the top link, created an account, subbed to about 80 subs, and started posting.
I have no idea what instances are or the Fediverse. I’m typing in subs and clicking submit.
I just kept crawling and it kept working.
I think the nerds (and I’m not using that as an insult) have kind of shot everyone in the foot by over-explaining the fediverse. I’ve yet to see a truly simple, concise, short explanation and how all this works is just kind of… a lot. It’s really neat, and I also get wordy when I’m excited about something so I totally get it (I mean, look at this comment. I get it lol). But when it takes more than a paragraph or two to explain what something is without even getting into how to navigate once you’re in, it’s intimidating for a lot of people. I had to watch YouTube videos to try to figure mastodon out, and still didn’t get my questions answered. It’s easier to find content I’m interested in on Lemmy and kbin, but after all the articles and chatter I’ve seen, I honestly expected it to be a lot more difficult. I was like, it’s social media. How hard can it be? And then I saw all the hype, I held off for a while before joining. The focus is about how instances work and whatnot, which IS really interesting and wonderful and neat, but the focus needs to shift a liiiittle bit toward telling people how to use the sites once they’re there, IMO.
As far as I'm concerned, the modest barrier to entry for Lemmy is a good thing. The bigger Reddit got, the more it declined in quality. It's still possible to be reasonable on Lemmy so far.
This guy is turning more and more into a Musk wannabe by the day.
According to the internet spez's net worth is 8 to 10 million dollars. Even if that's wildly incorrect, he isn't even worth an amount of money Musk loses or gains in a few minutes of a normal day.
The fact that u/Spez now has a negativity filter implemented is just embarrassing for the entire company. Glad I moved on.
Wait…so if I used Power Delete Suite to add Fuck Spez to all my old comments I could keep my stuff but the bot would make it all invisible to everyone else automatically? That sounds interesting.
Solid plan, sounds like he just made things easier for all of us
Imagine you're so sad, you create a filter to remove comments of people rightfully calling you out on the internet.
He called Reddit a 'democratic city' where discussions can take place. Well, sounds a lot like he's just a very intolerant mayor who wants to control the flow of discussions when they are about him.
Ceos are just modern day dictators who seek to control the narrative and destroy any opposition. You see it with Spez here, and you see it with Musk on Twitter. They are anti-democratic by nature and resort to authoritarian techniques to maintain their hold and display their power to their immediate in-group.
Probably to hide all the comments that people replaced with shreddit
You can hear him screaming "I'M NOT OWNED! I'M NOT OWNED!!!!" right through the internet
We did it boys, we hurt his feelings!
So the way to truly delete ones content is to mass edit and replace with "fuck spez"?
Sounds like a plan.
Gee, it's a good thing there aren't dozens of invisible ASCII characters, and even more confusables, some which match the English letters to the pixel!
I used this to get around filters all the time, but I don't need it to work anymore since I don't use reddit now so have fun lads and ladies!
Just stop going to reddit. I did.
Yep. Words are cheap, actions are not. This platform reminds me of Reddit back in the day when I left forum life. I'll be fine here, just took a while to find communities.
Fuck you Spez.
My man
Well, can you make sure he behaves then?
He doesn't realize how much if a life fail is having a filter like that, does he?
So if I updated all my comments to say fuck speak, they’d auto hide them for me?
very likely atm if you do anything en mass you get flagged or banned , the admins are very sensible over there atm.
The best possible perspective I can come up with is that this is a test. It's all about increasing their marketability for the IPO. Today they're filtering "Fuck Spez", tomorrow they'll be filtering "Fuck ". For a fee, of course, or as a side deal on an ad campaign.
Fuck Steve Huffman.
He wanted to be Musk, now he wants to be Xi
but this is exactly what musk did when he bought twitter.
This is a terrible way to handle this... Let them continue. I'm happy here.
Fuck u/spez
that guy is so thin skinned.
i was surprised because i thought they hadn't done that yet. i honestly don't know what i was thinking. it's like the mods are speedruning ruining their platform.
