Currently closed due to a tragic slide on 6/19/25

Moderate 6.1 mi out and back 1,027 ft elevation gain Hiked 6/7/25

An incredible fairly short hike takes you away from the magnificent Bow Lake to the huge bowl beneath Bow Glacier. One steep climb between the two areas and then you will slowly ascend within the watershed towards the falls where the trail ends. Sweeping views back down the valley towards Bow lake.

Looking south across the vibrant Bow Lake, Crowfoot mountain is the large one on the right.

Bow Glacier falls with large patches of snow along the rock face under mostly blue skies.

The mouth of the creek flowing into the stunning Bow Lake. These affluvial dumps are great because there is such a distinct division between shallow and deep. Crowfoot mountain to the right.

A seasonal waterfall found along the trail with a very cool looking pocket cave formed beside it.

I've been following your hike through the Canadian Rockies over the past few weeks. I've been particularly interested because I was there myself earlier this year. Here's a piece of Bow Lake when it was a little bit colder:

Many of those footprints in the distance are mine walking on the very frozen Bow Lake. If you happened to have a shot you've taken during these warmer times from around the same spot, I'd love to compare side by side. My shot is right off the Ice Field Parkway.

Yeah, I believe this is the same spot, or close enough but slightly different perspective. Looks like it could be the same tree as well. Should be in the area between the two parking lots.

Bonus pic from when I passed through there in between when you were there and when I hiked it. Ground is dry but lake is the unsafe frozen. Not quite same view though.

Edit: Also, cool pic while everything was still fully covered.

I saw your shots from Jasper up north, did you make a stop at Abraham Lake on your way south? I got some nice shots from there. The frozen methane bubble pictures didn't come out as clear as I would have liked though.

Absolutely loved Abraham lake area. Camped at a couple different spots along it while I did Allstones lake, coral canyon, and Siffleur falls. It was already thawed when I got to there though so I didn’t get a chance to see the methane bubbles.

The morning we were visiting there were a pair of guys ice skating the LONG way across Abraham lake. I didn't have skates with me that day, but later was able to skate on a frozen Lake Louise.
