"But then people judge me for disparaging people I don't even know! Ugh eggshells everywhere!"
- Fox News Snowflakes
As a white, mostly German-American partial Khazarian, aspiring Vtuber, I might be able to shed light from my perspective. We've allowed ourselves to basically be controlled in what we say, and that the average manly thing is what we're supposed to be doing. While I personally agree with most of it, the main issue I have has to do with, specifically, feeling like you can't speak freely. That's because of Roman Catholicism (most of my family is Christian, which in turn, means they're the Pope's plaything), and its edicts spreading to other Christian denominations, and even Islam (which they created from my research). I harshly disagree with that nonsense, but you should be free to speak your mind within reason. That's the same with doing whatever the flip you'd like... within reason.
That's just me, however.
walking on eggshells should hurt quite a bit, no?
Depends on the callouses, but maybe that's the point of the saying. You are walking carefully as not to get stabbed, like walking on gravel. No one says walking on eggs, so they aren't afraid of the eggs cracking by the words choice.
Sayings are weird. We should just change it to walking on Legos and there won't be any confusion. Hesitant fearful movements meant to not stab yourself hard/unexpectedly.
It doesn't imply pain of walking on crushed egg shells. It implies walking such that you don't crack the shell. "Eggs" by itself doesn't imply the shell (like some people might think scrambled eggs or whatever). The consequence of not treading with care is crushing the fragile eggshell, or in real terms, emotionally sensitive individuals cracking really easily. Feeling like walking on eggshells is simply stating that you feel the need to practice unreal levels of caution.
No, if matching your words to your thoughts would hurt someone the correct solution is to change your thinking.
I have some disagreement about this. Since our thoughts are a mixture of our conscious decisions and cultural context there are times when offensive thoughts bubble up. What make you a good person is not acting on this offensive thoughts, noting them and consciously attempting to change them. So you are correct to change your thinking but its a process and no one is perfect. As you change them they lessen but we all have times when our thoughts aren't as enlightened as we want to be.
What if your thinking is correct, but the truth hurts?
10 or 15 years ago? No
Now. Yes. Esp if I'm in company with people who are insecure/unstable. They love to demonize even innocuous things that I say. It's bizarre and bad faith. I've been liberal/progressive my entire life. Only in the pats 5 years have I been told now that apparently I'm a Nazi/sexist/racist/bigot for having a penis and white skin. It's insane. Just saying something like 'people should be treated fairly and equally' gets me labeled as alt-right these days.
There are simple a lot of unhinged ignorant and awful people who have been poisoned by social media and identity politics and they do not think men are people, and white men are especially not people. I avoid them as much as I can. Most regular people just think of me as a person. It's just the nutbags who get all hellbent on whiteness and maleness, but they want to control everybody anyway. The type who believe that the point of life is to create a genderless communist/anarchist utopia...
also a lot of it has to do with just activities I like. I like to read, i like to ride bikes, i like to hike. I get so much unwanted commentary and lectures from people about how I do these things 'wrong' because I'm a white guy now. It's just bizarre to me. and they all wnat to tell me to do them the 'right' way that is 'inclusive'. Pretty sure me riding my bike has nothing to do with other people... but accord to these nutbags I'm 'oppressing' others by doing these things.
Oh good. Now they know what it's been like for the rest of us for decades.
Fuck Fox NEWS. They're stirring the pot.
