The tens of thousands of dead kids at your government hands are making us feel uncomfortable. So you'll excuse us if we dont give a tiny rats ass about how the totally accurate description of what your government is doing makes you feel.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
I know right?! Poor sausage! I bet all the innocents who have lost limbs, loved ones and everything they owned probably also feel a bit "uncomfortable". Isn't it the hard right who love saying 'fuck your feelings'?
Maybe stop genociding then...
Israel hates this one simple trick
Israel often says things like "we don't target civilians" but I don't see how that's an excuse. They shouldn't be dropping bombs when the risk of civilian deaths is so high.
Let's say you're driving while drunk and you accidentally kill a pedestrian. You can say "well I didn't intend to kill anybody" but that's not an excuse.
Whenever Israelis say something assume the opposite is true.
I don't have a problem with Israelis in general - it seems that some Israelis are completely opposed to the military action in Gaza. I do blame the current Israeli government for killing so many civilians though.
If they don't target civilians, does that mean all the tens of thousands were an accident, each time? Probably shouldn't have a butter knife never mind a host of murderous weapons if they're that poor.
They clearly do target civilians, time and again, pretty much every day.
Or they just don't care about civilian casualties. Maybe they bomb a building which they think is used by Hamas, and they don't care if that bomb kills civilians as well.
They simply draw imaginary lines in the sand, fail to tell Palestinians about the lines, then declare any crossing the lines to be hostile combatants and not citizens.
Why would an Israeli politician even attend a Lib Dem conference? It's a relatively minor political party from a country 2000+ miles away...
country 2000+ miles away…
A country thats government supports Israel. (Unfortunately)
And where the next election is clearly going to bring changes in what parties are mainstream,
It is very likely some form of coalition government will be likely. Unless things change dramatically.
ATM polling indicates reform plus Tories would not have the seats to form such. (Although unless the left can unify. That is likely to change)
So Israel is likely trying to effect the most likely coalition partners that will disagree with them.
A country thats government supports Israel. (Unfortunately)
We don't though.
We banned weapons exports, publicly denounced them for war crimes, sanctioned a bunch of members of their parliament, ramped up aid for Palestine, committed to arresting Netanyahu and several other Israeli politicians should they ever set foot here, and have just recognised Palestine.
Israel in response have said we are an anti-Semitic state with an anti-Semite leader.
There has been a massive shift in the past year.
