Trying to completely leave reddit as of a few days ago when boost finally stopped working. I haven't been back so far and this is my primary site now and also following discuit in hopes it grows bigger than it currently is.

I know I will use reddit for work when I have technical questions but that's it.

Who's Lenny? I'm waiting for Sync.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

In starting to, but it's more like the old days now where I'll go to my list of cool sites and only if all those run out and I'm bored enough to doomscroll will I visit the R.

Yesterday I have as first step deleted all my reddit posts and comments. Still keep my account for possible GDPR request later.

I was fairly new to Reddit but really liked the way it was organized by topic. It was easy for me to delete my few posts and then delete my account. So I'm now rooting for Lemmy and seeing nice progress. Also looked at Threads and was amazed how well it worked right out of the gate. It shows what a multi million dollar budget can accomplish.

Yes. The Reddit BS was too much for me, and lemmy has been great.

[–] LovelyA72@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Now I just wish Lemmy can come up in my Google search when I search for reviews. Right now that is still Reddit's territory and no Lemmy at all. Lemmy should really improve it's SEO to not only makes using it with search engines easier, it can also help new users discover this platform.

I'm about 80% over to Lemmy myself. There's enough content here that I can doomscroll memes to my heart's content now. Reddit, I still end up on on my PC for a few more niche subreddits. Mobile though, I'm just sticking to wefwef/Lemmy until a good GTK client for Lemmy is available (both good options are still in beta right now).

This is my first acc on lemmy, so yes, I do want to move to... Lemmy

[–] schwim@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Completely switched the day before 3d party access was monetized and crippled.

[–] plumbercraic@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 years ago

Yep. This place is great.

[–] Sqwave@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Already have 😏

[–] razieltakato@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 2 years ago

I'm trying to, but I miss NSFW content here

I never used Reddit before this, I didn’t really like the idea of using Reddit. But now I can use Reddit without actually using Reddit.

All of my casual browsing is done now exclusively on Lemmy. If I look for an answer or an opinion that’s when I dip into Reddit.

[–] CreativeCider@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Edited my comments in reddit and left. And haven't logged back in since.

I like how you can feel the interactions and communities growing here.

I left Reddit during the blackout and haven’t looked back. I check in my sub once in a while to see what the new mod has done to it. Seems like he re-opened it. He is the first one that told me about the blackout lol, Trader!

[–] krodnoc@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Haven’t gone back to Reddit since Apollo shut down. Given the way it’s now run I say “good riddance”. Hopped onto Lemmy since the Memmy app launched on iOS, and so far so good. I first joined Reddit in 2008, and Lenny has similar vibes now as Reddit did back then.

[–] itsnotlupus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I have a small userscript/style tweak to remove all input fields from reddit, so I'm still allowing myself to browse reddit in read-only mode on desktop, with no mobile access.

It's a gentle way to wean myself off. I'm still waiting for my GDPR data dump anyway, so I need to check reddit fairly regularly to be able to grab it when/if it arrives.

Reddit --> Lemmy 4 me 2

[–] maniel@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yup, even if Lemmy lacks in content it's general plus in my book, no mindless scrolling, have time to touch the grass etc

Didn't delete my account or anything, but fuck them

[–] peyotecosmico@programming.dev 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, between here and mastodon I got enough content

[–] XEAL@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. Mostly because I got permabanned from Reddit about a year ago for making offensive jokes and trying to appeal a sub ban by using an alt account. Given what's happening now on Reddit, it seems I didn't lose much.

However, the fact that this site clearly states on its rules that it's not a free speech space means that it will never ever be as good as Reddit on its early years.

[–] psykick@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, first week was kinda rough with lack of content, but it’s quickly getting better.

Haven’t logged into Reddit since they announced the API changes.

Mostly. I paid for both rif and reddit premium. My subscription to reddit premium runs out in early August, so as a long as rif still works (mostly) I'll keep it on my phone's home screen next to Jerboa and alternative between the two.

That said, reddit has stopped allowing the porn subs to be accessed from third party apps, or at least from rif. I expect other restrictions to follow. So I expect I'll be getting of rif altogether in a month or so. Eventually rif for tildes (TIF?) will debut and I'm looking forward to that.

[–] JohnnyLX91@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 years ago

As long as my synch for reddit version works I dont see myself leaving reddit.

[–] Abualiexpress@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Besides the obvious difference in users, I'm finding it remarkably similar to Reddit. Time will tell if it catches on in popularity.

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 year ago

Yep, easiest choice ever and the tech behind Lemmy and activity pub is so cool

[–] brayd@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 years ago

Already did replace it with Lemmy several months ago.
