Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

I don't give a shit about reddit's DP program.

The first two or three emails I was willing to ignore. But they keep sending these.

How desperate do you have to be?

Hey, glad we could find you here. Did you know that the Reddit Directed Share Program deadline is 5 March 2024?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 28 points 2 years ago

Lol this would be funny as fuck if they started posting about their dick scam program here on Lemmy.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 57 points 2 years ago

Desperation is a great look for an IPO.

[–] assassinatedbyCIA@lemmy.world 47 points 2 years ago

Translation “Somebody please hold my bags”

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is this even legal?

Aside from the spam stuff, does the FTC allow this?

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago

Assuming you're in the US, everything is allowed, and an entity as benign as thr FTC can't stop that.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think someone else did that and got banned for "report abuse". Absolutely bonkers.

[–] xan1242@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 years ago

I should've clarified I did that on my email provider lol

Eh, works either way.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 29 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Not enough bag holders. Spez needs his golden Tesla signed by Elon, and he's still a few million suckers away.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I got a reminder email from them, stating that if you didn't want to join I needn't worry; this would be the last email they'd send about it.

They then sent a DM from u/reddit to my account, meaning I got another email about it.

Even something as simple as that they can't get right.

[–] sysadmin420@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Fucking same I read the email when I received the dm and chuckled about it as the push notification came in.

[–] arefx@lemmy.ml 25 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

They banned me for talking shit on nazis and still spend me spam trying to get me to their website they don't even want me on. And if I do click on it there's a big red banner telling me I'm not welcome. Crazy. Fuck reddit, and most it's users.

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 20 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I got that email today too for one of my accounts. Oddly, its my old account that I retired long ago. The one I was still using up till the exodus last year, hasnt gotten a second email yet. Theyre really desperate for that cash money arent they?

[–] NateNate60@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I received one for a moderation bot I created

[–] Steve@startrek.website 7 points 2 years ago

🎶 Isn’t it ironic 🎶

[–] radicalautonomy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

I logged into my old account, replied to the message, and told them to pack sand and that I hoped those WSB numpties short their stock into oblivion.

[–] w2tpmf@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Did you and the other millions of users opt into receiving marketing emails from them when you signed up?

Let's starts a class action lawsuit.

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's a reddit inbox message, not an email

[–] w2tpmf@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

They are also directly emailing people.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I got spammed bt e-mail in old reddit accounts i didn't evem remember having created. Some 6 accounts in total, long abandoned with barely any karma. They are extremely desperate.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

They'd probably have better luck launching and rugging a crypto.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 2 years ago

They did ride the NFT wave with NFT avatars. Doubt that was a profitable venture

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

They tried that one.

[–] Monument@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’d get a better ROI from selling my old account to spammers.

[–] Hux@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’d be open to that. Is there a market place?

[–] sysadmin420@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Hamartiogonic@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 years ago

Yikes! You’re right. People are selling accounts for roughly 50-100 €, which is much more than what I expected.

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 years ago

Logged into my porn alt that I barely use for anything ever

It had the original IPO and this message

How the fuck was my randomly generated username porn account that I modded one sub for and used for wracking off to titties enough of a power user to get that when I hadn't used it in like 8 months?

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lol I saw this too. Who the fuck would want to buy shares in Reddit these days? Who the fuck would buy shares in a failing product with a CEO hellbent on ruining it further?

Had this been 10 years ago, I might have fallen for it.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

The bootlickers and large companies ruining the platform for either profit anor because they're power hungry. Those are the people they expect to buy into their scam.

[–] fidodo@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

They must know that investors have no confidence in their IPO so they're hoping their user base is dumb enough to inflate their price.

[–] 7u5k3n@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

I've gotten it via email and via dm

I've reported as spam in Gmail and blocked the user on old.reddit

Fuck them and their bags.

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 5 points 2 years ago

I reckon closing your account or calling it out on a popular sub could have similar beneficial outcomes here

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

How do i short this shit

[–] snownyte@kbin.social 3 points 2 years ago

I just find it funny how Spez thinks his cesspool of a community is marketable enough to be treated as a serious stock exchange. Poorly moderated, asinine engagement, braindead repetition, ban-happy and devoid of this 'intellectualism' Reddit boasts about.

And I want Reddit to go public just to see how hard it'll fail.

[–] Shialac@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

They started to send me this less than a day after the initial mail lmao

[–] spez@lemmus.org 1 points 2 years ago

We need shareholders to make money on our negative revenue product.
