I don't know. How long ago was 2015? ... Shit I'm old.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
Digg refugee, so my reddit account is 13 years old.
Digg refugee, I've had a couple 10+ year accts until the doxxing. Then I started flipping accts on the regular to prevent that. Modded a few subs until the admin IP banned me for being critical of the direction they are going.
So now I'm here and to be frank a lot happier.
Exactly 10 years. Haven't visited Reddit since mid-june. I miss it? Yeah, but fuck Spez
Me, the modding had become a real quagmire.
7 years, still there to moderate because only half of the community wanted to leave. But that's it, no more frontpage for me.
9 years on reddit. I didn't post a lot of content or comments but I read a lot. As soon as they killed 3rd party apps, I left. And switched to lemmy. I like it here. I think I already posted more comments here, than on reddit. I don't miss reddit at all.
10+ years, I had really started to generate content the last couple years, and will now forever be at 49.5k karma. I even used the shitty app, but left for good when spez started talking about admiring musk. He's an unredeemable prick.
I was there for about 15 years, shortly after launch, when there were only a handful of predefined subreddits. I would say "good times" but there was also shit like jailbait as a default sub...
Close to 5-6 or so years if I count my banned account years.
Still on both fences but I will try to transition once sync for lemmy is ready.
Yep, part of the 11-year club as well. I stopped browsing on mobile when Apollo died. I still browse on old.reddit in a browser, but I've found about 60%-70% of the content on here that I was looking for over there. So, not too shabby.
12 years for me. Havent gotten back on since finding out about Lemmy. Reddit fonally becoming fully enshittified lead me to the fediverse, which actually gives me HOPE. I'm very happy to be here. I'm even happy to see the right wingers here, because if they de-federate from traditional social media they'll ALSO BE BETTER OFF and hopefully stop being activley manipulated for 20 minutes.

12 years, deleted my account and overwrote all posts and comments I could before I did so.
14 year account
Welcome here!
I was there since 2010, then I got banned for getting into spats with fascists. Fuck’em all. Reddit sucks. Free speech my ass.
That would be me.
I was a couple months away from my 10th cake day, but I'd been lurking for a few years before actually registering.
11 year, here. I lurk for it to supplement my news until Lemmy ramps up. Otherwise, I'm done there. Not exactly by choice, but because I was wrongly permanently suspended and admins refuse to listen to an appeal. Their loss, for I made them money through gildings both given and received, informative content, and reporting of incivility, bigotry, and violence.
Relative newbie, 7 years.
15y club here. Still go there from time to time, as there are very specific tech communities that I go to for help, unfortunately, but most of my social media is over here.
Just checked: oldest account i still have is 16 years old.
9y7m with 200k+ karma. I had used Reddit to look at porn for few years before that but finally made an account to ask some tech support question...
I got perma banned not quite a month ago, it was a pretty shitting thing I did so probably deserved it. Definitely helped me in jumping ship.
15 years for me. I'm not the type to go scorched earth, so I'll still pop in briefly from time to time from a Google search or to look for something specific, but I don't use Reddit for near-constant idle browsing anymore, like I used to. Now I have Lemmy for that, although it would probably be healthier to just cut out social media altogether (or severely reduce it).
I was on there for 10 years. Fuck Steve Huffman.
Been on Reddit since 2011 while my main account is only 9 years old. Regardless, Lemmy is now my go-to except for smaller subreddits that haven't fully migrated yet. That said, I've noticed more and more activity in those lemmy communities so I have high hopes the trend continues!
11 years. Left and didn't look back.
I joined in early 2012. In 2015 I became a mod on an active created by a friend for our EDM scene in a fairly major city. I had a Google calendar linked to FB event pages and added events multiple times a week and also helped mod a sub for a record label out of said city with now some widely known national artists. I’ve since moved states and stopped using Reddit after the blackout/API stuff. I miss it.
