Just actually beat Minecraft for the first time solo after playing off and on since beta...

No idea why I hadn't gotten around to it tbh

Also before that I put a bunch of time into Far Cry 6, which was solid.

[–] woteorin@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean, I know why I haven't yet in spite of also having played the game since beta.

... It's because I'm lazy and hate grinding for materials.

[–] Arystique@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

Building is just more fun and who needs to free the end anyway

[–] SeaTurtle1122@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The outer worlds, though I sorta skipped some of the dlc.

Mass Effect 1 a few weeks ago. Never played it before and really enjoyed it, but eventually got sick of side quests.

Started ME2, but decided to put it down for a bit so I don’t burn out.

[–] Maddypip@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

ME series is my absolute favorite! Hope you have fun with ME2, it’s a blast.

[–] digitalrefugee@readit.buzz 3 points 2 years ago

XCOM 2.

It was fine, but a buggy mess.

[–] setsneedtofeed@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

The most recently purchased game that I beat (aside from multiplayer only stuff like Deep Rock Galactic) would be Black Mesa. Motivation to see the overhaul of xen at the end of the game really kept me going.

Assassin's Creed Origins in a marathon to end Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla in preparation for Mirage (I have been spoiled about a major modern day spoiler that makes me hype again for the modern day story in the franchise and by extension I'm once again hype for the franchise after years without playing the games because of modern day story deception)

[–] Arystique@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

😵 I cant even finish odyssey a marathon sounds evil

True Pacifist Undertale just the other day. Which, to be fair, took me something like two years to get around to doing because I was way too lazy to deal with some of the ending fights of Neutral route.

Now I have the itch to go back and play EarthBound again... Which may be related to the lo-fi Mother 2 mix that got posted earlier today over in the Music community.

[–] Arystique@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Loved undertake honestly Toby did an insane job on that game,

personally I cant do the other two endings lol

[–] literalskalitzlooter@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

Kingdom Come: Deliverance. And I did beat, bonked so many bandits & Cumans with my mace. I love cracking their head

[–] any1th3r3@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

GRIS. Such a wonderful experience, that I highly recommend to anyone

[–] UrLogicFails@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I have a tendency to hop from game to game as I get new ones on sale. Typically for me to beat them, they either need to happen to be bought worth no other new games being bought for a while after, be short enough to burn through in a few days, or need to be beaten to I can interact with other people regarding the game.

I think the last game I beat was Pokemon Scarlet, which I had to beat so I could do the raids.

[–] Arystique@beehaw.org 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I have this annoying tendancy where I get near to the end of a game and just stop playing, ive done it 5 fucking times in fallout 4

[–] Waker@lemmy.pt 2 points 2 years ago

Same. And then when I get back to a game I have no idea what I eat doing and forgot most of the controls and feel to lazy to learn them again. So I just go play something else and the cycle repeats itself.

[–] coldv@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That's me with Final Fantasy games. When I get to the last act, I, for some reason, just lose interest no matter how much I love it.

[–] I_Am_Jacks_____@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Fun game, though unlike the first one, I wasn't immediately excited to keep playing for some reason.

[–] Kovu@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

the last of us part 1 and the dlc left behind :)

[–] coldv@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Couldn't help replaying after the tv series reignited my love for it!

[–] scribblemacher@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I just beat Kirby Mass Attack a few days ago. I went on a Kirby kick this year and knocked out Forgotten Land, Canvas Curse, Super Star Ultra, and Nightmare in Dreamland as well.

[–] Waker@lemmy.pt 2 points 2 years ago

Assassin's creed Origins was the last one I completed. Assassin's creed odyssey I was almost done with the main story and most side quests from the base game (was trying for 100%) but I lost my save somehow after formatting my pc. So I kinda fight feel like playing it anymore...

[–] coldv@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That's why almost only play indie games (AAA once in a blue moon), they're short, sweet, artistic, great stories and I can finish them in a few hours! I finished Kentucky Route Zero the other day.

[–] AllonzeeLV@vlemmy.net 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] GaryPonderosa@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Is it running well now? I know it has some launch issues.

[–] Maddypip@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Horizon Zero Dawn. I went long stretches of not playing so it took me over a year to play through it. I enjoyed it a lot! Very cool story and Aloy is a great character.

[–] KerooSeta@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Red Dead Redemption was the last game I beat, about 3 weeks ago. Currently playing Diablo 4, Tears of the Kingdom, and Marvel Snap.

[–] HectorBarbossa99@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

how do you manage playing multiple games at once!

[–] KerooSeta@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Enh, just switch between them. I usually play only 2 at a time, sometimes just 1.

[–] computerfan0@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Super Mario 3D World! The last few levels of it are a major difficulty spike, but I got through them!

Now I just have to beat every level again 4 times...

[–] gingerrich@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Senuas' Sacrifice. Absolutely great game and one of a handful that I have completed. Which is a bad record seeing as I've been gaming on computers since the late 80's 🤣

[–] TheOneCurly@lemmy.theonecurly.page 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Breath of the Wild. I got interested in the lead up to Tears of the Kingdom coming out. Finished it the day before. Still haven't started tears though...

[–] Steeve@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

TotK is very similar to BotW, not a bad idea to take a break between the two.

[–] Oscillon@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

System Shock remake. Awesome game with no hand-holding, really interesting to play.

[–] Silviecat44@vlemmy.net 1 points 2 years ago
[–] butter@lemmy.jamestrey.com 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Factorio. And the game before that? Factorio. It's a good game.

[–] man_teiv@feddit.it 1 points 2 years ago

I hate and love the game. The addictiveness factor is crazy. I put it down after launching the ticket and never took it up again, otherwise I'd be spending the rest of my life playing it.

[–] Otome-chan@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

it was probably Kirby and the Forgotten Land a few months ago lol. I feel like I need to put in more hours gaming. I struggle to complete my games partly due to not enough hours playing, and partly because I jump between games.

[–] HectorBarbossa99@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

most recent games that I beat were Batman Arkham knight and mario sunshine- I played the other Arkham games when they originally released but never had a PS4 when Arkham knight came out so I was only able to pick it up recently (yo ho).

Mario sunshine I had on my switch is part of the 3-D All-Stars collection and it was pretty good. I had gotten very frustrated with the slippery controls as I started playing but as I continue to playing it got more intuitive and the game killed me less and less.

i've been continuing the Mario kick I playing New Super Mario Bros Wii, and I downloaded Mario galaxy one to play on a dolphin emulator (looks, runs, and feels better than the switch version)

[–] CayProcyon@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Dragon age inquisition. Due to a lack of time I also do not often finish games anymore.

[–] farsayl@readit.buzz 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Omori - 10/10 game highly recommend

[–] any1th3r3@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Oh, it's on my backlog! I'm not too much into typical turn-based RPGs, but the focus on mental health is very appealing to me.

[–] linuxfiend@fedia.io 1 points 2 years ago

Red Dead Redemption 2

[–] Shadow298@aussie.zone 1 points 2 years ago

Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Don't often finish games these days. Usually burn out on them.

[–] man_teiv@feddit.it 1 points 2 years ago

Signalis! Small indie game with a perfect atmosphere, halfway between silent hill and dead space

[–] sam@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

A link to the past

[–] jakobmn 1 points 2 years ago

RDR2. Took me 3 years since I got a child shortly after beginning. The only one that I completed in the meantime was untitled goose game. Otherwise I have just played around in BeamNG or another racing game for a short while at a time.

[–] calaveth@infosec.pub 1 points 2 years ago

The last game I finished was Disco Elysium, before that I can't even remember. It is not a common occurence. I've played some short indie games like Death & Taxes to the end, but bigger games, maybe Dragon Age Inquisition or X-COM2 but that's years ago now. Currently I'm sort of between games, I've got a Total Extreme Wrestling save that I dabble with now and then when I have some spare time.
