You might want to check again, that's the "display name" that can be set to anything.

[–] urheber@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 month ago

People who space out punctuation like that are psychopaths

[–] independantiste@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

In France that's the correct way to write it, probably other countries as well

[–] alx@lemmy.blahaj.zone 41 points 1 month ago

So, it checks out

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 month ago

psycopathic behaviour

[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I will do it if quoting lazily at the end of a sentence without quotes, like what is f(n) ?

[–] moonlight@fedia.io 5 points 1 month ago

To me it feels weird if there's just one punctuation mark like this !

But normal if there are two like this !!

Like there should be a space only for even numbers. Don't ask me why.

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago

I swear I'm not a psychopath I'm just lazy. The spacebar is right next to the . on the phone and sometimes I miss the first time and don't feel like trying to backspace.

non English speakers (or language barriers in general) get a +10 in humor I swear. It's SO FUNNY to see someone know what they want to say but not be able to communicate correctly.

My sister went to Greece for a study abroad thing for a few months and one day someone accidentally broke her sunglasses but they didn't know how to apologize so he just kinda pointed and flapped his hands 😭
She said "it's ok 3 euro 3 euro" along with some thumbs up and stuff to show that she doesn't really care about them as they were getting old anyways. The guy tried to apologize more than turned to his buddy and started talking and all my sister could understand was "whe38sjsh cheap Chinese garbage sueus8hennshs" because I guess he didn't know the word for it in his language or something 😂
The best part is, I'm sure from his side she is also the one who can't talk because she doesn't know Greek.

Also every time she crossed the street for the first week she would do the little 'hand wave thing' Americans do (actually I didn't know I did it until she told this story) to thank drivers but APPARENTLY that's seen as worse than the middle finger over there and understandably nobody thought to tell the students about their equivalent of the middle finger. So one day when she was walking with someone from Greece they asked her why she was being so rude to drivers and my sister felt really bad afterwards

Wait waving like waving hello 👋 is a rude gesture there? What does it mean?

[–] VitabytesDev@feddit.nl 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Opening your hand in front of the face of somebody is considered very rude and it is like saying "fuck you".

A Wikipedia article about this

I am not sure if you mean that though. And no the waving gesture is not considered rude at all.

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

A thank you wave in USA is an open hand 👋 and very subtle to no shake. I can see how it would look like the insulting gesture.

Thanks!

[–] dabaldeagul@feddit.nl 2 points 1 month ago

Just the old mobile default design.

[–] Maven@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

Discord but the accessibility stuff is a bit fucked. The screenshot is super super old but it was making the rounds in the community again.
