Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

He can't die, he told us he was never gonna give us up!

[–] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And letting us down - not an option!

[–] gregor@gregtech.eu 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Not going to make us cry either!

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

But will he run around and desert us?

[–] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 6 points 2 months ago

He said he wouldn't!

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Outcome unclear, try again later

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 35 points 2 months ago

Listening to whoever reads his eulogy will probably also keep people on edge.

jokes on all of you. i unironically like that song

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago

I unironically like Rick Astley period. I will not link to them because people will think I'm rickrolling, but check out his covers of Uptown Funk, Everlong and Ain't No Sunshine on YouTube because holy fuck. Especially the first one because singing a song with that few spaces to breathe live floors me.

I'm never gonna give him up

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

Never gonna let it down

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

It's good, however Together Forever is by far the superior Rick Astley jam and I will die on this hill.

They killed it by monetizing it. Unless you're a chump who pays or only use newpipe or something it's just ads first. Fuck the Internet.

[–] Schorsch@feddit.org 1 points 2 months ago

Fuck GAFAM.

(And Bytedance, fuck them in particular.)

If he dies, his song will be proven to be lies as he gives us up, let's us down and leaves us. He has to live forever or become a liar.

It's too late - somebody tried that scam years ago:

Huge Astley's Dead Scam

[–] newproph@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 months ago (2 children)

glad I checked the hyperlink. XcQ link stays blue

[–] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 1 points 2 months ago

That, or dQ...cQ

But XcQ being pronounce as “execute” is a good one, too!

If you open YouTube links in a new tab Firefox, they don't autoplay. It's very easy to avoid getting tricked in all sorts of ways if you do that and apparently the algorithm doesn't care unless you actually start the video.

This is actually pretty scary, viewer discretion is advised.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Wow, I can't believe he had that many people fooled!

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

That's some quality shower thought!

Rick rolls... in his grave

[–] Fades@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Who passes around links to an obituary??

[–] dogsnest@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is a Fortune 500 Company that specializes in it:

Eternal Memories

[–] chetradley@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago

Wow some of those distribution methods are insane, but the prices are crazy.

I will be severely disappointed if no one tries to Rick-roll people on the day of his death. I hope it's far enough on the future that people forget what Rick-rolling even is. It'll make it all the more sweet.

[–] RandomVideos@programming.dev 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Rick Astley actually died

Unfortunately, nobody thinks its true because they are too scared to click on the link

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

You made me sad. That was not the music I was hoping for.
