As someone who spends a lot of time in the outdoors, I have to disagree with you. I'm very excited about how this will simplify logistics, and make getting weather etc much easier.

Starlink launches forty-ish Starlink sats every other week, Russia could deplete it's entire arsenal of missiles and, if they're lucky, cause a hole in their coverage.

Starlink birds fly too low for that, they will deorbit in 4-8 years if they go dead.

Third of our fixed wing transport fleet, but yes.

We've also got the Orions, Poseidons, and our rotary wing stuff.

Lemmy.nz recently defederated Hexbear, they're running out of instances that will talk to them. .world has also defederated as well.

I'm in a few sea kayaking Facebook groups which are pretty active, and being based around a common interest, there is some genuinely good conversation happening.

It's a shitshow outside our little walled garden though, I just post about my trips and that's it.
