Connect for Lemmy App

I guess I found a Bug, while commenting on an larger comment:

To recreate:

• Find langer comment
• Start to write own comment
• scroll up to read something in original comment
• copy a paragraph for citing in your own
• scolling down to continue writing
• initial written Text is gone

Out of all the apps that started after the migration, this one has come the farthest and it's still improving. It's probably the best Free Lemmy app out there.

Reminder to tip your developer! I was willing to pay for Boost, and so it only feels right to do the same for Connect.

I'm not sure which one I'll use the most moving forward, both Boost and Connect have separate benefits and issues still, but I appreciate you all nonetheless

If people start linking to communities using the badges, or putting the badges in sidebars to show the total subscribe count, it won't render on Connect.

Maybe a toggle to turn off the in-text image blurring? Alternatively, it might be safe to whitelist the shields.io since all the images will be badges

When I hit my own comment one of three things happens

1. Everything works fine
2. The font size get really big randomly
3. the comments scrolls up the screen in an endless loop

The last two get fixed when I exit and re-enter the view, but it can be mildly annoying. Thanks kuro!

I have checked, posts that I have absolutely seen by the same users from the same communities show back up again at random after a while, the hide now, or hide all above options just don't seem to work very well

Not sure what happened, but since the last update, posted videos have no sound. Not in the app, nor after download.

I've checked and double checked, and in other apps they have sound both played in-app and downloaded. I don't have connect muted anywhere.

What have I done, and how do I fix it? Thank you.

Lemmy.world disabled photo uploads for a time, so I was told that was probably the reason. But they've since turned them back on, and I'm still unable to upload photos when I try to create a post. When I try, it gives me this error:

FormatException: Unexpected character (at character 1)

Hi Guys, I just downloaded Connect and changed the comment and post setting font to "large". I got a notification saying " settings saved " but when I go back to the home feed nothing has changed. Anyone know how to fix it?

I've been using Connect for a couple of months now and really like it. I'm using the Beta on Kuro's recommendation for some (for me) killer features that I am looking to replicate on Desktop. I don't know if these features are now available in the main Connect release (yet?) but anyway:

• Filters: Exclude posts from your feed if post contains a filter word (regex)
• Community filters: Exclude communities from your feed if post contains a filter word (regex)
• Blocked instances

What's my most straightforward route to getting these on a desktop? I am using an M2 Mac, typically with Google Chrome, but I don't mind using an extension or a different browser for this.

I'm aware that I can install some iOS applications and can currently see

• Memmy for Lemmy
• Thunder for Lemmy
• Voyager for Lemmy
• Avelon for Lemmy
• Milem for Lemmy
• Liftoff! for Lemmy
• ~~Lemmi~~ (not a Lemmy app!)
• Lemmios
• Bean for Lemmy
• CheeseBot for Lemmy

but I can't readily find one which has these features and the mobile on desktop experience is not ideal. Also not keen on apps insisting on a login to even preview use.

I'm also aware that there are also android emulators for Mac but I don't have experience with these to know which if any of these might be suitable for daily use for my purpose.

Any suggestions?

When I refresh a post, all the comments I have hidden become unhidden

When I comment, all the comments I have hidden are unhidden

Please make remember hidden comments, ideally f forever, but at least for the session. The current state of hidden comments is frustrating

Reddit Enhancement Suite for example keeps hidden stuff hidden, and annotates the root hidden comments with a count of new unread comments above them

I've been making use of the "hide above posts" button liberally, it helps when I scroll past a bunch of things and consider them read without actually having to click on them, but ive noticed that on later veiwings or even a refresh I keep seeing the posts from the same communities as well, idk if its just not saving the hidden list when I close the app or what, any fixes?

Right now there are three feeds available to me, that, as far as I can tell, I have minimal control over.

It'd be rad if there was a way to add feeds, and for each feed, be able to manually select communities I'd like to see.

This would be great for news, porn, sports, pornography, adult content, and so much more.

I haven't seen any comments by them in over a couple weeks.

I've had this happen a few times now. I type up a nice post, then add a URL in the "Post URL" field when I'm done, and it deletes everything I've typed. Infuriating for longer text posts... anyone else have this happen?

I want to set up a filter like *bot to filter out any posts by bot accounts, is there a way to do this?

Upvoting a post in the list of posts, and then opening the post: the upvote is not showing, and I have to upvote again.

• Upvote a post
• Notice the post is upvoted
• Open the post to read the comments
• Notice the post is no longer upvoted

Hi, currently using the app for the first time since Jerboa is getting buggier every update.

This app has the look and feel I like. But I can't seem to find an option that the Frontpage is loaded by default when opening the app.

I don't care about all the random active instances. I'd like to only see what I'm subbed to.

Is that possible? And if not. Is it something that can be implemented?

Can we get the ability to zoom with 1 finger? Currently only double tap and pinch zoom are supported. It would be awesome if we could double tap, hold and then drag vertically to zoom in/out.

I don't have a big phone, a Pixel 5, so any comic/meme/image with text needs to be zoomed in to read. Having to pinch zoom back and forth 8 times just to read a 4 panel comic is frustratingly tedious.

It can be a pain to wait for the left drawer to reload every time I enter the inbox. Accidentally signed myself out today because it shows Sign Out instead of the normal options. Can you please fix this @kuro_neko@lemmy.ca ?

Btw: I absolutely LOVE this app. Have been using it for months and have pointed out any issue i have had. The fact I haven't made any posts is a testament to how much the app truly shines in day-to-day use.

I have an active post in vscode right now, which I made in browser, but cannot see anything when viewing the community with Connect. Any ideas?

I see the option but I want it to be a toggle like sync or eternity. Is that possible?

Often when I want to find a community, I'm just using the search function. It's great that communities show up, but why can't I interact with it? There are no options and it's just a list, but a list is pointless if you can't do anything with it. Maybe tap could take you to the community and there could be a dropdown to subscribe? This is a rather frustrating user experience as I was used to just typing a community in the rif sidebar and getting to the community I wanted.

I put Connect in the Secure folder in Samsung Knox and when I download a picture it can't be found anywhere withing the Secure Folders files or gallery.
