Finished Metroid Prime: Remastered!

Shared my issues in last week's thread, nothing else to add here except I hated those Fission Metroids, most annoying enemies in the game.

Waiting for Prime 2 remastered now. Would probably get day-1.

Started Pankapu, a colourful and shiny 2D platformer. Have only played a little bit, but seems fun.

Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider.

It was a really good game. I am surprised that it's about 10 years old now. Next is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, will probably play it later this year. I have heard Rise is the best of the trilogy, so going to adjust my expectations accordingly, but still looking forward to it.

Also played and finished Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. It was a pretty short campaign, probably around 6-7 hours. I had heard great things about the campaign, but I thought it was just okay. Good, but not the best campaign ever. Though, to be fair, this is a game from 2007, and I haven't played many FPS games recently, so I am not sure what the benchmark is.

I liked the missions and the gameplay, and thought it was over pretty quick. I have also Modern Warfare 2 remastered, so will give it a try soon-ish.

So, what about all you? What have you been playing?

Announcement of My Nintendo Gold Point Discontinuation 18/02/2025

Thank you very much for your continued support of our products.

On March 25th, 2025, the ability to earn Gold Points will end. Gold Points already earned can still be used on Nintendo eShop to receive a discount, even after this end date.

We sincerely thank you for using the My Nintendo rewards programme, and apologise for any inconvenience. What does this mean for you? Earning Gold Points from digital purchases and download codes

From March 25th, 2025, customers will no longer earn Gold Points when making digital purchases from Nintendo eShop and the official Nintendo website, or by redeeming download codes. Earning Gold Points from pre-orders of digital titles

Pre-orders for digital titles from Nintendo eShop or the official Nintendo website made up to and including March 24th, 2025, will still earn Gold Points regardless of the game’s release date, even if the payment is processed after March 24th. Gold Points earned from such a pre-order will be granted to the customer’s Nintendo Account within 24 hours of a) the payment being processed and b) an email with the subject “Thank you for your Nintendo eShop purchase” being sent to their registered email address.

If the customer cancels such a pre-order before the payment has been processed, or if the payment process doesn’t go through for customer-related reasons (such as insufficient funds or an expired credit card set for payment), Gold Points will not be granted, even if the same title is pre-ordered again or purchased by the customer at a later date.

Please note that pre-orders for digital games placed with My Nintendo Store or external retailers are fulfilled as download codes. As such, and as explained above, these pre-orders will not earn Gold Points from March 25th. Earning Gold Points from physical Nintendo Switch Game Cards

Gold Points can still be earned by registering physical Game Cards from the HOME Menu of a Nintendo Switch console, as long as the title has been released by March 24th, 2025. If a title is released after that date, Gold Points cannot be earned. The original release date of a title is defined by the information shown on Nintendo eShop. Gold Points can be earned from registering a Game Card for a period of two years from a title’s original release date in Europe and South Africa (and for one year in other countries).

Any previous commitment by Nintendo of Europe SE to grant Gold Points outside of the methods described above will still be fulfilled. Additionally, customers may also be granted Gold Points for exceptional reasons at Nintendo’s discretion, even after March 24th, 2025. Spending your existing Gold Points

Gold Points are valid for 12 months from the date of being earned, expiring at the end of a calendar month. Gold Points earned by customers up to and including March 24th can be used to get a discount on Nintendo eShop purchases until they expire, even after the distribution of Gold Points has ended.

I think we all agree these Zelda inventory lists are getting too long.

This video came up in a comment by @UnbrokenTaco@lemm.ee and I thought the video was really informative on the Palworld situation going on.

Before Nintendo Switch Online, there was Virtual Console. Available on the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U, the Virtual Console was effectively a line of purchasable retro games available via the Wii Shop Channel and eShop.

Unlike Nintendo Switch Online, which offers up a range of playable games for an annual or monthly cost, Virtual Console allowed you pay for games ad-hoc, enabling you to download whichever title you wanted and keep it indefinitely. While we certainly love what Nintendo has been doing with Switch Online over the years, it's no secret that lots of fans would rather the firm revert back to the Virtual Console model.

One such individual who seemingly misses the Virtual Console is none other than Hideki Kamiya, creator of Okami and Bayonetta, who expressed his desire for Nintendo to 'reboot' the service when asked about the upcoming Switch 2 by IGN.

Also present was Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who remained predictably coy with regards to the Switch 2:

  • Well, speaking of new technologies, do any of you have any opinions on the Nintendo Switch 2?

  • Hirabayashi: This is something that we really can't comment on from Capcom side at all, because yeah, it's about the Nintendo Switch 2. Anything that comes out would come out from Nintendo.

  • Kamiya: As a personal comment, I personally would love to see the Virtual Console rebooted. That's something that I would really want to ask Nintendo for.*

Of course, it seems highly unlikely that Nintendo is going to revisit Virtual Console anytime soon, but it would be nice if it offered up a way to purchase retro games individually alongside its NSO membership tiers.

Sony allows users to either subscribe to PlayStation+ or purchase classic PS1 games separately on the PS5, so if Sony can do it, when why not Nintendo..? Y'know what, don't answer that.

Well, I was planning to Medieval Dynasty on PS5, with a friend, but due to PSN outage, couldn't do that. So, went back to playing Tomb Raider

Played quite a bit of Rise of the Tomb Raider, mostly focused on main story, though did any side stuff I came across, without going out of the way to search for all of them.

Not much new to say about it. Story seems to be nearing end, but I can be often wrong about these, so let's see. Unless Medieval Dynasty took too much of time, would try to finish this over the weekend.

Started Metroid Prime: Remastered, playing this as my primary game.

It's fun to play as Samus Arun in a 3D / First Person game. Game is very good, with the usual Nintendo polish, though it does feel dated in some aspects, mainly the map. There is no way to mark anything in the map, and it only shows you doors, so if you come across some blocked or unreachable passage, you can forget where it was. There are multiple such places that I remember seeing somewhere but now that I have the upgrades required, I don't know where they were.

This also means, it's not always clear where to go next.

Another thing is that doors require different weapons to open, it makes sense for the first time, but you need to that everytime, so when going back and forth, you often have to keep changing your weapons to open door, then change it to fight the enemies, then change it again to open the next door. It's not a big deal, but still a minor complaint.

That aside, I am enjoying the game, the visuals, sound and gameplay itself is good. I have gotten all visors and weapons (got the last one just a little while ago), there are probably still some other stuff left to get.

I hope they release Prime 2 and 3 remastered too. Would love to play the whole trilogy before Prime 4 drops.

So, what about all you? What have you been playing?
