I fear he is now in position to force goverment to buy his shit cars. Cybertrucks for cops etc.

[–] themurphy@lemmy.ml 45 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He is, otherwise he will get funds in some way or another. Rich people can't become poor today.

If tesla failed and just lost his entire position...

He would still be a billionaire lol

These people can at fail. They are the system

[–] frazorth@feddit.uk 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That would be amazing. Cybertruck cops? They'll be letting everyone go when the trucks breaks down.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

you mean "police needs to buy more cybertrucks, so they always have a bunch of spares when they break down due to a puddle"

[–] frazorth@feddit.uk 5 points 2 weeks ago

Ha, you think that the backups even arrive to replace/repair? They'll break down in transit!

I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, fuck Musk. On the other hand, the US replacing huge fleets of gas vehicles with electric and building out all the attendant infrastructure would be a huge climate win.

Plus, it's a vehicle that's likely to be shit for its owner, so I'm cool with cops having them en mass

Round about way to defund them, force them to spend funding on maintaining overpriced junk.

[–] BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah probably, but if this forces Tesla to close all factories outside America.
