The rift between Washington and Kyiv over a potential ceasefire in the war with Russia deepened on Monday as Donald Trump expressed new outrage at Volodymyr Zelenskyy for saying that the end of the war could be “very, very far away”.

In a post to social media on Monday, Trump posted a link to an Associated Press story outlining Zelenskyy’s comments and said: “This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!

“It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the US,” Trump continued.

At this point it's Putin (through Trump) who seems desperate to end the war. While I don't want to see more Ukrainians dying, agreeing to a truce now seems like a bad idea.

Russia is financially screwed. The oil and gas industry there is crippled. Minimal funds are entering the country and the war machine has forced manufacturing companies to make weapons with bank loans they didn't want to take and the banks didn't want to make.

The government is broke. The banks are broke. Industry is broke. All to feed the military. This is very much a war of attrition but it money not troops.

Which is why the puppet master is having his marionette lift US sanctions on Russia.

On the other hand, it would be very funny if someone decided to bank on Russia's weakness after 3 years of war and start a ~~full scale invasion~~ special military operation to strengthen the border security.
