More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Failing to redress the issues facing young men will push them further towards the far right

in several areas there is now a reverse gender gap, with boys, particularly those from poorer backgrounds, struggling to keep up with girls

Do you think this is an important issue?

Describing the content of that article as REPULSIVE is just deeply misandrist. Why is it seemingly impossible for people to care about more than one demographic at once.

That would be great if there was such a thing as misandry but there isn't - at least on a wider societal scale where it has a constant day to day effect. Men's liberation is absolutely a thing but this article functions more as whataboutism than anything else.

As an already clearly set boundary, I'm not going to explain to you why this is the case but I can point you in the right direction. I'm personally a fan of the work of Lee Shevek but if you are looking to learn through community osmosis, the aforementioned community is a good place to learn.

I wasn't talking about on a societal level, I was talkling about you. I also don't need a reading list on why you think you can be dismissive of men's issues. The article is about a recently published report about issues facing boys and young men. There is no whataboutism as it isn't in response to anything.

Wow. Making an account just to be a misogynist. Piss off back to Reddit. Misogynistic prick.
