My 6 year old has just completed Lego city undercover on a Nintendo switch. I will switch to a steam deck for my own gameplay but to sweeten the deal and let me sell the switch, please could you recommend games that would be good for a 6/7 year old?

Looking for games he can play by himself without much help and also games we could play together.

Thanks in advance!

I will warn that some of the Lego games are rather buggy on PC.

I had the same issues on my Windows PC. But they run great on my SteamDeck.

I don't use Windows at all, and have had the issue I mentioned for Skywalker Saga both on Steam OS and in Fedora on my laptop.

It does only occur in split screen though.

I played skywalker saga through no problem, albeit on windows streaming theough moonlight to the steamdeck but it worked great. Alot of lego games actually, with no issues. Lego the hobbit, lord of the rings, lego harry potter, some straight from steamdeck some streamed from pc depending on hard drive space, but i didnt encounter any bugs or crashes with any of them so your mileage may vary.

Edit: all were local splitscreen as well

Interesting. I don't have a Windows PC to test but I ran into the same issues (frequent freezing) when I tried playing Skywalker Saga through Boosteroid. I also found many posts online about the Lego games in general being a buggy mess on PC when playing co-op. They work fine solo - can't even get them to crash there.

Yeah i dont know what to tell you, i didnt do anything special but didnt have any issues with any of the lego games either on windows or native steamdeck. Actually i think lego the hobbit might have crashed twice during spliscreen, but both times were after at least 4+ hours of playtime, and my SSD was 90%+ full and I only have 16GB of ram and 4gb of VRAM so i think I chalked it up to a swap file/memory fault, but I've had the same issue playing other games for extended periods of time. Lego games actually seemed to be some of the most reliable in my experience. Not discounting your experience but i just wanted to give an alternate experience/possibility.

Oh, that makes sense. Local multiplayer on SteamDeck can still be pretty rubbish, so I probably just didn't notice.
