Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today announced Senate votes on his two Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) to block the sale of $8.8 billion in U.S. bombs and other munitions to Israel, including more than 35,000 massive 2,000-pound bombs. Floor debate on Sanders’ JRDs will begin around 1:30 p.m. ET, subject to change based on the Senate schedule.

Anyone else who considers themselves pretty progressive feel like they're purposely being pushed away from this site by ml users and other barely literate trolls? Usually users who barely speak English, but spend 8-10 hours per day shitting on the US left, and (they think stealthily) promoting Donald Trump?

Just me?

I think you might be mistaking criticism coming from the left with criticism by the right. ML people are likely to the left of you. The general criticism from the left is that the current Democratic party is so-not-left that it's enabling Republican power and often collaborates with it. A recent example was passing the CR bill. I think the intent is to shift people who believe the current Democratic party is doing all it can to understand that it isn't, and that it's far from enough, and that supporting the mainstream Democratic party wing is going to produce more of the same insufficiency, ultimately leading more Republican power, perpetuating the poor-to-rich wealth transfer till it comes to a violent end of some sort. To be clear, the violence has already started but it will get worse as more people get poorer.

I don't consider tankies to be left of me. They are authoritarians, so left/right becomes irrelevant to me.

I am well aware of who I am referring to here.

Do you have any examples?

I haven't seen anyone here shit on Sanders, and he represents the US left.

But regardless, ml users shouldn't push you away from this site because you can just block whole instances.

Dude, it's all over this very thread.

Here is one: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/24040381/13749415

Check out the other comments they've made in this thread for more Sanders hate.

I am aware of the blocking mechanisms of this site, I just don't have an interest in using them to silence opinions I disagree with.

bloomcole's all over this thread doing exactly that.

Maybe stop spending time on .ml

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 10 hours ago

I don't go on ml, the stuff (and users) just show up in my feed sometimes. I'm not a fan of the idea of blocking every user and instance I disagree with.
