The declaration was made in Trump's designation of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

25 years ago my super Christian parents knew about trans people and children who identified as trans. There were news shows about trans kids. They didn't care.

I think a lot about how we got here and about how this was inevitable.

Minorities are tolerated as a curiosity until they start getting ideas about having rights. See also: gay people and free black people in the 18th and 19th centuries.
