A video, discovered on the cellphone of a paramedic who was found along with 14 other aid workers in a mass grave in Gaza in late March, shows that the ambulances and fire truck that they were traveling in were clearly marked and had their emergency signal lights on when Israeli troops hit them with a barrage of gunfire.

It's not a common international English word and English is not my native language.

Native English speaker, though haven’t lived in the UK (nor any other country with English as the primary/dominant language) since I was a chid.

I’ve heard the phrase a million times said out loud.

First time I’ve seen it in written language, however.
