I'm not into it all that much in recent years, but in the past our group tested it and even super experienced guys were able to scribble standalone words and not sentences.
Oh, I don't do any drugs either, nudge nudge.
But I'll point out that #5 on the official, science-backed list of best things to do on acid is in fact "Doodle or Write". Maybe your crew just did a lot more than the average?
Nah, you doodle or write fine, sometimes even weirdly good, it's just completely incoherent, at least that's my experience. But we pushed it pretty hard at the time so it might be it as well.
A fun exercise is, write something, then progressively annotate/translate it for clarification as you come down. The idea is that you are still in a state to be able to mostly comprehend and remember what the earlier less coherent writing meant to you, and more able to put it in terms of sober thoughts.
