I was super bummed when it reached EOL. I wish they would let folks host their own servers for it.

Battlefield 2 and 2142 were absolute gems and have not been matched by any other game in the series
Battlefield 2 was so good because DICE hired the guys who made the Desert Combat mod for 1942, which was in itself a fantastic mod.
DC Mod, never went back after playing it the first time.
I'd add vietnam to that
2142 was an absolutely amazing game.

Mechs?! I’m sold… and sad I missed this one.
It was and still is my favorite bf. They do still have private servers, but they're aren't very full and it generalities takes an event.
The titan wars were something to behold though... haven't ever played anything like it since it came out.
2142 was a fucking blast.
BC2 in my eyes is the best multiplayer battlefield style game. The destruction physics <3
