Star Wars Memes
Hello there. Somehow, Star Wars memes have returned. It's not a trap, this is where the fun begins.

Oh hey some real SW content for a change (perhaps):

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.
The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:
-
This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.
-
We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.
-
As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!
-
Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.
-
Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).
-
Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.
-
Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

If you appreciated Rogue One, you're doing yourself a disservice by sleeping on Andor, NGL.
I don't even remember anything from Rogue One, so I think it's safe to say it didn't engage me.
That's anyone else's fault how, exactly? 😅
Same, don't remember the movie at all. But Andor is really good, imo the best they did in decades.
damn, my favorite star wars movie for sure
I liked Rogue One, but felt that Andor was one of the least engaging characters. He was the person who did what others told him to do. In S1 of Andor I found him to be a very passive protagonist. He fell into situations, things happened around him and the whole thing was very unsatisfying.
Unless he gets a "cause" in S2 I suspect I'll be hate watching it.
Season 1 detailed the radicalization of just a guy who was just trying to keep his head down under fascist regime.
Did you also somehow manage to miss all the other characters in Andor?
You can point out the river at their hooves, but certain donkeys simply won't drink. Your effort is appreciated, though. 🤷🏼♂️
No I didn't miss them, but neither did I enjoy them. The most interesting to me was ...
Reveal for a negative take on the series
...the antique dealer who was also the brains behind the birth of the rebellion, and by juxtaposition Mon Mothma finding her role. Characters with agency shaping their life. However, this was a tier 3 subplot and didn't really advance very much over the course of the 9 episodes. The female ISB officer may turn into someone interesting, but is currently too remote from the rest of the story. The downtrodden imperial that lives with his mum, and then goes head over heals for Miss ISB.... It was all I could do not to FF his scenes.
The characters Andor left behind where he grew up did nothing, so when Andor's surrogate mother dies and gives a postumous speech it meant nothing. It's easy to speak out when you're dead and have nothing to lose.
Who's left? ... The prisoners? I guess this was where Andor showed the most agency of any of it, but again... it's a bunch of defeated characters for 2.5 episodes until a piece of information lands in their lap.
Maybe S1 is setting the board, and it will all come together in later, but I generally found it slow paced and dull. Most of the characters failed to engage me.
