If Quebec seceded, they would have no currency, no military, and no protection from the world’s superpowers. France thinks they’ve already deviated too far from French culture.

There’s zero benefit to the province if they secede. They’d likely cease to be a distinct culture within 50 years.

It would also be a loss to Canada, especially the francophone parts outside Quebec, but also everywhere else. Quebec keeps the country balanced.

It also geographically connects Acadia and Newfoundland to the rest of Canada, wildly weakening Atlantic Canada's ties to government and the rest of the country, and completely torpedoing east/west trade.
