I don't understand how there can be black people in favor of Hitler. How do they rationalize praising someone who would have genocided them?

A couple things stand out to be from that response:

  1. the original post doesn't mention Republicans at all. It's like someone making a post against dictatorships and getting an essay and how "these anti-Trump posts are unhelpful."
If something so cartoonishly stupid or evil is so clearly about a given group or person, that's an issue.

  2. the reply literally says "they don't want leopards eating faces, they just refuse to listen to people trying to stop leopards from eating faces" which for all practical purposes is the same thing. "We literally tried to stop this exact thing from happening that is now happening to you, and you refused to listen and made fun of us" is a fair criticism to make.

  3. "they believe bad things will happen anyway" except the bad things that are currently happening were not happening before, and they were predicted to happen by the people trying to stop this that weren't listed to. Citizens who haven't been charged with crimes weren't being deported before Trump took office. People said Trump would be a dictator and where dismissed as "fear mongers" by the people who thought "bad things happen anyway, don't fight it', and through their actions actively helped bad things happen. Which brings us to:

  4. what are they suggesting people do? Pussy foot around the most aggressively rude and ignorant people who not only refused to listen but actively insulted those who tried to warn them this would happen? You think these people are going to listen if you keep turning enough cheeks? Man who's wife was deported doesn't regret voting for Trump

You try to meet someone supporting a fascist regime half way and they start stepping backwards. These are the people that when "first they came for the socialists" they cheered and celebrated. Next when they come for them I'm going to speak out, but I'm also going to tell them "this is the exact thing people were trying to warn you about!"

[–] parody@lemmings.world 2 points 1 day ago

Thank you!

One question/note:

you refused to listen

I have this view of some supporters who’ll logon to an ad-ridden Android phone to open Facebook while Fox News is on cable TV. They were still on the oil rig when the debates were live but they caught an AM radio kook give his summary on their way home.

They listened to perfectly as I preached to the choir. I failed to reach them. The Democrats failed to reach and connect with them.

FUCK

You think we’ll be using trains?

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago

I think ICE uses planes.

Yeah, good idea, we can even make long lines of them in a well-organized convoy. Maybe the ones in front and back can control the ones in the middle.

Then to make sure they stay in formation, we can physically link them together, but with a bit of slack to turn and such.

In fact, we could even make special roads for these convoys so they get maximum fuel efficiency while also preventing them from accidentally drifting off of it. These roads would be exclusively used by these tesla convoys.

When these roads have to intersect with normal ones, we will give the convoys right of way, with some sort of movable barrier blocking the other cars from crossing.

Yeah, this idea is shaping up. Imagine all the people and cargo we could move with this hyper-efficient system.

[–] azimir@lemmy.ml 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You know, if we made individual cars larger so they could hold more people or cargo, this idea could get really efficient!

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 4 points 2 days ago

Larger... You know, large cars really should have a semi standardized format, you know, so you always know what to look out for. Like containers! Imagine that, a container on wheels, it has so much space for people and cargo!

History lessons in the US focus on the Jewish victims of the Holocaust to the exclusion of all others. Plenty of people don't know that gay, trans, leftist, or non-white people were genocided.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 49 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Even white people. Slavs for instance. Anyone considered crippled. Political enemies.

[–] meowMix2525@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Slavs weren't really considered white back then. "White" as a social construct goes far beyond skin color.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 8 points 2 days ago

"white" is a US idea. Like Irish not being "white". Third Reich cared about Aryans, similar but different rules.

[–] sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz 16 points 2 days ago

My mom's uncle, white Norwegian, was put in a Nazi camp during WWII. History lesson.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

They were the primary target and most Jews died in the Holocaust. That's being said I think people of color who are Nazis tend play mental gymnastics to ignore the racism. I think it is the younger crowd who wasn't hunted by hate groups.

The real thing to note is that Nazi Germany condemned large groups of people to die. When society is ok with singling out a group of people anything can happen.

Damn, mad respect for Kareem,

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, but isn't he Christian? I think "Jesus Walks" was one of his songs. Jesus was absolutely Jewish and Christianity was a sect of Judaism for decades, maybe even hundreds of years. I'll never understand hating the people that founded your religion.

[–] bilb@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you're a Christian, you believe that Jesus was the Messiah and that modern Jews deny that. It's not really a contradiction.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Again, it was a sect of Judaism for decades for sure, probably centuries. It doesn't matter what you believe.

[–] bilb@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's not controversial that today's Christianity is descended from people who saw themselves as Christian Jews, Jews who followed who they believed was the Messiah. I'm just saying that there is no inherent contradiction in following Jesus and hating the Jews who did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. Jesus being a Jew himself doesn't really matter, since in this situation he's kind of a special case.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

It’s not controversial that today’s Christianity is descended from people who saw themselves as Christian Jews, Jews who followed who they believed was the Messiah.

Yes, they are both Jewish, no matter what word you put in front of them. Both Jews.

While not Black, there was a shop in India named Hitler. Caused a bit of a stir.

[–] vxx@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

He got inspired by the Black Hebrew Israelites, a pseudo-religous group that believes african americans are decendents of jews.

If I recall correctly from his infowars Interview (or somewhere else around that time), he came to the conclusion that since he's a jew, he gets to decide if hitler was a good guy or not. It didn't make much sense and I don't recall why exactly he came to the conclusion that he as a good guy, but I think he said something like "There's only love, so he cant be a bad guy".

It's possible he thinks black americans are the real jews, that hitler was doing a good thing with killing imposters.

In the case of Kanye... fell astoundingly far down the antisemitic conspiracy rabbit hole.

Before he went turbo-mega-ultra Hitler fanbo1 on Alex Jones... he was saying a lot of shit about how the entire entertainment industry was run by a cabal of Jews who secretly fucked over himself and other black artists in particular.

... He completely lost his mind in this process and has arguably been having the world's longest sustained, continuous, psychotic break (I think he's been far more obviously just unhinged bonkers for longer than Elon?).

He legitimately hated and hates Jews so much that the actual Hitler stuff came afterward.

How does he rationalize that Hitler would absolutely have killed every Black or African descended person he could, that he switched from being inspired by American rascism to calling the US a 'mongrelized' people, because of American society's multiracial makeup, interracial marriage etc?

Easy: He's completely insane and legitimately should be in a room with padded walls.

Logic? Reason?

404 error.

...

Have you ever tried to convince an unmedicated, manic schizophrenic that... the things they are saying just fundamentally do not make sense, at a basic grammatical level, that their mind invents things that did not happen?

Yeah, doesn't go so well.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 3 days ago

They usually just conclude that you're part of the conspiracy.

Their where Jews that helped the Nazi’s early on. They seen themselves as the good Jews.

[–] minnow@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago

Basically, cognitive dissonance. They simply refuse to believe the truth, and make up their own fantasies in which everything is backwards from reality. It makes them feel like they have some power over their life, and/or that they're special.

99% of the time people like this are just deeply freaked out at the idea of a cold uncaring universe with nobody in control.

some people are breathtakingly stupid and mental illness is complicated, idk what to tell you fam
