Yes. WL is more gritty and holds a mirror up to expose the darker side of humanity. Fantasy Island was the same, usually a lesson was learned and it had a wrap-up finish, but it had a lighter tone (general TV.) WL, on the other hand, was more about exposing behaviors, characters, and leaving you with, 'not everything is what it initially appears.'
