My town currently has 4 highway on/off ramps. one on the far right (where the yellow and green lines start), one in the middle right above my industrial area, one in the middle left, between my farms/logging industry, and a 4th one off screen to the further left that goes to a seaport.

I would assume that traffic would follow the yellow line, using the offramps near their destinations.

instead, ALL the traffic coming into my city, is coming in on the far right and weaving through my surface streets (a 4 lane road, not highway, ring road, and 2 lane connector roads), causing massive traffic headaches and even bigger backups as they try to follow the green line to get to the far left through my city.

Why are my Cims dumb and bombing through the middle of my city, instead of taking the highway?

and another topic.. this torrential crush of vehicles coming in off that one far right offramp regularly causes huge backups for 4+ chunks on the right highway. I have lane mathmatics. I have a very long runup where they have plenty of time to get over. I still get idiot Cims taking the furthest lane just to get ahead of the crush before stopping and trying to merge in right before the offramp.

I miss TM:PE traffic lines.

every car I've checked coming off there has had a destination on the far side of the city. its just not lots of cars with some of them driving through. Its the entire highway dumping off right there, and most of their destinations are on the far left of the city, with much more convenient offramps. For all intents and purposes, there is no traffic going north passed this offramp to go to other offramps down the line.

My understanding of CS2 traffic AI is that they are supposed to prefer staying on the higher speed road for as long as possible.. but they just seem to crush whatever offramp I make thats the furthest right. I built that offramp there because they were crushing through my industrial area and still going through the whole city to destinations on the far left, acting in the exact opposite of what i understand the traffic AI should do/prefer. I've even tried reducing the offramp to a gravel road, the slowest road, which the AI should avoid like the plague with a faster highway, but it still crushes the gravel road instead (and causes an even larger backup)

I'm wondering if the AI is broken, and just drawing a straight line from the source to the destination, and taking whatever roads are closest along that path..

That's what I was thinking looking at your map. That's really weird that the ai is driving like that.

Unless you have other plans for that area, I would turn the green line into a highway since it looks like it is at the midpoint between your residential and industry and would also help with transportation within the city.

I had some plans for later game as i unlocked more in that right region, but at this point the constant crashes, traffic, etc are making my happiness plummet, so I guess i should convert my ring road into a highway, even though I'm normally not a fan of highways running through towns.

Maybe I'll just nuke a big chunk of the damn highway itself and redirect it around south and up through my couplet.

appreciate the input and time you've taken to reply.

No problem! This is the next best thing after playing and there is no way my pc is running cs2

my PC couldnt run CS2 for the longest time, but some recent update finally fixed whatever the performance black hole was. Went from single digit FPS, to maxing out vsync.

I dont know what your specs are, but might want to give it another try if you havent recently.
