That's not what this piece is about though. It's not a comparison, it's specifically about telegram. Their CFO has a contract with the FSB, do with that what you will. Durov has also said that he's never been back to Russia since, that's been proven false, he's been back more than 50 times.

Fwiw I don't use WhatsApp either, I use SimpleX with Signal as a backup.
