A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Why should anything, really¿ All depends on what you assume something's purpose that justifies its existence should be.

If you don't believe in purposes, then nothing requires reasons to exist because they don't need justification. Things just are and you either like them or don't like them.

If you do believe in purposes, then understanding its' sole purpose is the accumulation of wealth and power towards OpenAI as a collective organism should suffice.

Why should crocodiles exist? Why should mosquitoes? Why should viruses and other sources of disease? They don't need a reason. They're just doing what they do to survive, grow and reproduce. You know, just like ideologies. We're just what they feed off and their means of materialization (through our actions).
