An apron is a very simple item that simply goes over the clothes and secures with a single, simple tie
It's just unnecessary if you just use the further away burner lol

Well yeah those are the options. Use special clothiny for the splatters or just don't have the splatters. Second seems simpler imo
Oh, you'll still have splatters.
Can't say I've noticed any but could be
