this is the dumbest way to do it… it’s likely to just spray gas all over you, as well as broadcast your position before you even throw it.
with a couple simple chemicals, you can have it light on impact, and that’s how every military conflict that used them, used them….
sticking a rag in a bottle and lighting it is a psyop.

I've also read that you should seal the bottle, and tie the rag around the neck instead of sticking it in. That way, the contents don't ignite until the bottle smashes and meets with the lit rag.

...in Call of Duty. Obviously.

Edit: Saving your liquor bottles is free

I read somewhere that taping storm matches to the bottle then igniting that just before throwing is a pretty nifty trick as well.

better but still shows where you are, and makes a bright obvious line in the sky from you to where you’re throwing it….
in the Winter War between Finland and Russia, the fins made a special cocktail… it was called the Molotov Cocktail… they put something in the gas, and then something on a paper bag and dried it out….
the bottle was only placed in the paper bag immediately before throwing.
Jews in the battle of Warsaw used the same technique… sneaking out and siphoning gas from nazis for this….
if you light something first you’re not only giving up any surprise you’re limiting the timing in which you can throw it….
you basically have to throw it immediately after lighting.
