Real shame no one who noticed, cared, wished it wouldnt happen didn't have the spine to oppose it with the appropriate level of vigor.
It certainly makes me view people that physically fled Nazi Germany before the war with relevance - I have certainly thought about leaving, but finding a new job let alone leaving my family make that more of a fantasy.
That said, I'm sure we could all protest more. Call your government officials. Speak up and loudly.
Looking back on nazi Germany, my number one thought isn't exactly "I wish more people had protested or called their officials". It's more in line with "I wish more people had tried to kill the people in charge"
