Good. Now they can leave Texas. Take that brain somewhere else.
Did you read the article? I'm confused your comment.
Yes. A Texas professor is now available to accept a job in a blue state.
Unfun fact: by population alone, Texas is already a blue state, since there are more registered Democrats than Republicans.
The reason why it's still under the full control of the fascist party is that it has probably the most systematically and thoroughly rigged elections of any state in the US, which is fucking SAYING something!
Texas doesn’t require registration in a party to vote in primaries, so the vast majority of Texans don’t bother to affiliate, and so the proportions of affiliated voters isn’t really very meaningful. More than anything, Texas is a non-voting state. It has some of the lowest voter turnout in the country, which absolutely benefits and is encouraged by the conservatives currently in power. Those who do vote tend to vote straight ticket either based on habit, perceived identity, and social pressures, or out of zealous rage over minimizing taxes at any cost.
While there is tons of voter suppression, gerrymandering, and other ugly political tactics at play, you can’t discount the immeasurable ignorance of the voters. Yes, there are millions of democrats and progressives in the four main metro areas, but between the Bible thumpers, the suburban NIMBYS, the rednecks, and the flocking tech bros that make up the rest of the population, Texas is definitely still an actual red state.
It has one of the highest rates of voter suppression, which they were able to crank up after SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act.
I believe it. But, Texans have had decades to flip it blue and they have not. The US is at a turning point. “Enough is enough” sort of thing.
The Left in Texas needs to take Texas by force—or submit. (Or move, which is my suggestion)
I really don't think university professor job openings will be a major feature of the next few years.
I don’t thing jobs will be a major feature.
Better yet, leave the states entirely.
Well yes, probably.
