Except we're not exactly seeing a bunch of people rushing to hold back Israel, I guess.

The US should be handing Israel a gun
I don’t get the downvotes, are we (US) not arming Israel?
I would guess a combination of two things:
People who want to defend Israel.
People who don't want to give Israel guns, misreading the comment as implying we should be.
i.e confusion from both sides that causes downvotes.
Just a guess, though.
